We had a vacation in May 2025, and I think this is the best hotel in Varadero. A huge well-maintained territory, renovated rooms, the staff is helpful and friendly, relaxed in a Cuban way and always dances a little)) the beach is phenomenally beautiful) The Atlantic is my top right now. Good afternoon, I would like to leave a review about the hotel once again. The hotel is gorgeous!
The territory is large and beautiful. The territory is strewn with palm trees, the architecture of the building consists of semicircular arches. There is a golf club on site where you can also take a walk. For $5, you can ride a golf cart around the territory. The territory is huge and picturesque. I advise you to drive at sunset (so it's not dark yet). It offers an incredibly picturesque view of the ocean from the hill. I recommend it!
There is also a shopping mall on site. If you want to buy souvenirs, you can either buy there, or there are 3 souvenir shops on site and a rum and cigar shop inside the hotel.
There are also a la carte restaurants on site (make an appointment in advance, preferably as soon as you arrive). There are also bars, you can have a burger or French fries. The ocean is clean and warm)
There is a gym on site where you can work out. Although the simulators are old, they perform the main function))
The food is very tasty and there is a lot of it. I don't know about other hotels, but it was incredibly delicious and varied. There is everything - mussels, fish, squid, vegetables, pasta, pasta, rolls, rice, risotto, meat, burgers, pizza. There are a lot of things! And for dessert, be sure to try ice cream - it's incredibly delicious here)) For lunch and dinner, wine is served (very tasty, light), you can ask for beer, a cocktail.
The room is spacious, cleaned every day, everything is clean. They also bring water and drinks.
Animation - in the evening, you can listen to national songs on the terrace and the performance of ensembles. Once a month, on a full moon, you can participate in a dinner on the beach, with a saxophone, and a special menu. Very romantic! Ensembles and all kinds of evening programs also perform.
Money in Cuba is preferably dollars. But they can also be accepted in the pesso. Cubans prefer it in dollars, but they took the pesso reluctantly). They took old dollars that they didn't want to exchange in the Russian Federation, because they said they weren't visually beautiful)) everything is normal here, everything is fine)

A luxury hotel for 5+.
A clean wide beach with white sand. Convenient access to the water. A large number of umbrellas with sun loungers. There is a cocktail bar on the beach, billiards, tennis, darts.
Every evening there is animation, songs, dancing. Very good filling of the lobby bar. There is a snack bar 24/7
The rooms are not new, but very decent, they clean, fill the bar and change the linen every day.
The breakfasts, lunches and dinners are excellent. There are always fruits, 3 types of meat, 3 types of fish, seafood, cheeses, ham, etc. Waiters serve drinks.
Of the disadvantages, I will say only one - there were no tomatoes / cucumbers for several days. Apparently they didn't deliver it. But this can hardly be considered a minus, just a slight inconvenience :))

We had a rest from March 20 to March 28, 2025.I can tell you right away that the hotel is 60+, and there are also a lot of foreigners in wheelchairs, there are practically no young people, it's very boring! In the evening, live music, mostly Cuban songs that ring in your ears, elderly people everywhere, and it feels like you're in an old-timey house! Cleaning is daily, but superficially opening the bedside table where the refrigerator is, there is hair and a lot of dust,the same thing is under the bed, the rooms are very old, the socket in our room did not work near the bedside table, all the others sparkled very old, the refrigerator hums like a tractor at night, it is not possible to sleep, and we rested with friends in their room the same thing! Upon check-in, they were given 1 floor.the room was just terrible, everything was dirty and broken, they asked for a $200 relocation for the 3rd floor, everything was the same, only the furniture was cleaned and not broken and the ocean view, the food was the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We went to all the restaurants on the territory, Japanese more or less and Italian, and the same food everywhere, only in a more beautiful format, papaya fruits, pineapple, watermelon, everything is greener and not tasty! Meat is like a shoe! Those who write that a lot of fish are the same, not tasty white, like our pollock.I don't know who writes about this hotel that it's the best, I personally didn't like it! Drinks are nonsense, mojitos are something crushed by mint and water, I can't say anything about alcohol, I don't drink! The ocean is very good, the first three days there were strong waves, no swimming, the beach was covered in algae and no one cleaned them for a long time, if you are not careful, you may not hurt your feet badly! The ocean certainly smooths out all these shortcomings, but not my option! We were in the famous Havana, and we didn't like a lot of beggars, and you can't get rid of them as brazenly as gypsies. Give me a dollar and that's it, he'll run after you, and there are a lot of them! It's the same at the hotel, everyone is waiting for you to give them a dollar! Maybe this is the best hotel for Cuba, I haven't been to any others, I don't know how it is! But this place is closed to me once and for all! It's not worth a 14-hour flight!

We had a rest with my wife for 8 nights. We took a standard room (not a level).

Life Hacks:
- For convenience, I recommend taking soft pads for deck chairs. They're in the same place where the towels are changed.
- There is a table with books next to the towels, where you can throw off the old ones and take new ones.
- The lifeguard sells cigars for $5 apiece. He can trim them there too.
- The bar is filled only in plastic. Aesthetes can order a cocktail inside the hotel in glass, bring a glass to the beach and pour plastic into it.
2. The number is 9.5 out of 10.

The food is normal, we were not hungry, there is always a choice. The bar was also pleasing. The staff is responsive, the quality of cleaning depends on who is cleaning. If you say your comments at the reception, they try to take into account and correct. There are golf courses nearby, many people come just for this. Most of the guests are foreigners, about 20-30% of Russian speakers, have not seen conflicts or drunken brawls.

I selected this hotel myself. I was not mistaken. I booked it in advance. Level LEVEL. The third floor, with a beautiful view of the sea and the golf club. All possible flaws and shortcomings are overshadowed by clean water and a snow-white (clean) beach. I didn't want to get out of the water every time...))) There is also a large and well-maintained area with five restaurants, four bars and four swimming pools. Initially, the hotel is FIVE!
The main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are served at the LA Trapeza restaurant, located in the main administrative building. You can also order up to three dinners per stay (we had a Level) at the themed restaurants IL Limoncelo, LA Arcada and Sakura. In the main restaurant LA TRAPEZA (it is also called the BUFFET), there are enough types of snacks, second courses, etc. For lunch and dinner, roast meat in front of you (beef, pork, chicken, cutlets ...), two second. Porridge for breakfast. An omelet with selected ingredients will be prepared in front of you. You won't stay hungry. As if there is enough food, but the food is not delicious. Fried meat (beef) - resembles chewing gum. Other types of meat are tasteless. The dishes on the tables are not always clean (tea cups, plates ...).
The room was cleaned closer to lunch. Clear. In the room there is gel, shampoo, iron, hair dryer, ironing board, two 1.5 l. bottles of water per day. Plus, two cans of beer, local (very sweet) Cola, lemon and orange soda in the mini bar.
The beach is purely a hotel, there are no outsiders. There are a lot of free sunbeds all the time.
In the evenings, on the terrace of the main exit to the sea, live music, starting at 17.00.
On the steps, relaxed and positive cats that make you smile at the sight of them)!
I didn't like the cocktails (bars near the reception and on the beach). One, more or less, in the beach bar - "Tinto Verano" (with red wine).
Additionally, we ordered a romantic dinner on the beach (mini-tent) - $ 100. Also, participation in golf lessons, driving around the golf club in electric cars, with lunch (lobsters, fried pig...), at the end of the outdoor event ($ 30 per person).
Upon departure from the hotel, payment for additional services, only by card. The hotel accepts the MIR card.
From experience and orientation on the situation: upon arrival, we left the airport and ordered a taxi ourselves. They offered to drive to the hotel for $ 40, I agreed for $ 30. From the hotel to the airport, the hotel staff offers to take a taxi for $ 40.
The main thing is clean, pleasant water and white sand! The rest is secondary!)

Everything is clean and tidy in the level rooms, which cannot be said, for example, about another hotel (Sol Caribe Beach), in which I lived for a long time. Breakfast at the level in a separate restaurant, a separate area on the beach with service and its own pool.
There is an assortment of food in the shared restaurant! If other hotels have problems with mango, avocado, fish and shrimp, then there were no such problems here, and even all sorts of cocktails, mojitos were made much better and tastier.

I really liked the hotel. Especially the beach, animation and the absence of children)))
Immediately, before describing the pros and cons, I recommend that you go to the hotel's Telegram chat and you will find a lot of operational and useful information there. As well as a chat for vacationers in Cuba (Cuba chat forum). Without these chats, we would really stupidly overpay the hotel guides and would not see much.
So, in order:
1) Location. The center of Varadero with its nightlife, souvenirs and lobsters is 10 dollars by taxi or 15 dollars in a chic American convertible of the 50s. The cab can accommodate 5 people except the driver. We did not consider public buses for $ 5)). To get to the beach - go down a couple dozen steps down the stairs. Nearby there is a golf club and Villa Dupont, where you can walk and meet the sunset.
2) The beach. Chic - wide, long, sloping entrance, clean sand. There are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. Free kayaks, jet skis, for-the-money paddle boards and sailing catamarans with snorkeling. Take glasses or masks. 200 meters along the beach to the right is a shopping center.
3) Rooms - we stopped at 3206, it was not very good, we were changed to 3205 without sound and surcharges - a nice room with a view partly of the ocean, partly of the golf courses. In some rooms, indeed, the sockets and plumbing are quite worn out, but the mattresses, pillows are in order, cleaning every day, the air conditioner blows properly. We did not pay extra for the Level - we only sleep in the room, and all their advantages are not particularly clear.
4) Nutrition. It depends on the change of cooks and buyers - that is, avocado, then not, then beef is normal, then tough, but in general everything is very good. Fruits are always mango, papaya, guava, pineapple, the notorious white and pink watermelon, necks, fresh fruits.
Protein - chicken, beef, pork, 2 types of fish, squid, lobsters sometimes, shells.
The dish of the day is paella, baked salmon, carbonade, grilled chicken carcasses.
Vegetables - mainly 2 types - peeled and unpeeled cucumbers))) Cauliflower, rubber broccoli, olives, boiled beets, beans. You will miss the potatoes)))
There is no cottage cheese and kefir, the cheeses are excellent, including roquefort, manchego, feta, maasdam, etc. Jamon!!!! A real cool hamon serrano!
5) Animation is a super team! That's how they start at 9-30 with yoga by the pool, and they take care of you all day - volleyball on the beach, gorgeous aqua aerobics, dance lessons, cocktail shows. You can learn salsa privately, for example. There's a show every night. In general, the animators are really cool guys - Elsa, Jordi, Diodri, Adrian, Camilio, thank you, amigos!
6) Excursions - we took Havana for the whole day with a return at 11 pm, a yacht for 6 people, the Caribbean. The Caribbean is not very good, the rest is a bomb, especially swimming with dolphins on Cayo Blanco.
7) The contingent. There are many pensioners from Canada, young people are represented by ours, the British, and the Germans. There are also splashes of Spaniards and Portuguese. There were no conflicts, everything was fine.
8) The Internet. By default, they are issued for 10 hours a day x number of days. It constantly requires authorization. It takes well in the lobby, in the rooms - in the room it takes, in the toilet - not anymore)))). On the beach - only if there are few people. The speed is 2-3 Mbit/s

Of course, service and food are not the main features of both Melia las America's and Cuba in general, but the atmosphere of serenity and relaxation, as well as Cuban rum, are unforgettable, and the beach and ocean are amazing. And that's why it's worth flying here!!! About gray and torn towels, as well as the lack of animation and the lack of champagne without tips, which are written about in some reviews - in our opinion, this is completely untrue... The room stock is certainly old and requires renovation, but there are renovated rooms in the main building and in the Level zone (if desired, you can choose a room with a fresh renovation and with stunning ocean views for $ on the spot. But there are reviews for this and it is worth reading in advance where you are going on vacation)) Yes, there are many Canadian pensioners in the hotel, but their positive disposition does not spoil the impression of the hotel and the rest in general. But the lack of stable Internet was disappointing. Friends, if in the modern realities of high vacation prices you decide to fly to Cuba - Melia las America's 18+ is a good option (price-quality), because there are not so many noteworthy options, especially in the 18+ segment.

Now I want to leave a review about this hotel.
Before traveling to Cuba, I read reviews from hotel visitors and watched video reviews on the popular video hosting service. My mistake was that I read a huge number of good reviews and didn't really pay attention to the bad ones, but now, after spending my vacation at this hotel and reading the bad reviews, I fully support the people who wrote them. The fact is that against the background of the real situation, the bad reviews look more objective and truthful, the good ones seem to me to be twisted (how can you praise the buffet when there is no milk, fruits, juices, meat, eggs, etc.). Now I will add on my own behalf:
1. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the kind guide Yvon, who is a Russian-speaking representative of this hotel. Perhaps immediately upon check-in you will be offered a room with an ocean view (when booking a tour in Russia, this option cost 23-24 thousand rubles) on the spot it can be done for $ 100 (someone is offered for $ 150) BUT, agreeing and buying a sea view, we got a room on the 3rd floor, instead of the first (I thought it was rational, since fewer animals would disturb on the 3rd floor) but as it turns out, the room that we were supposed to have is a two-level apartment on the 1st floor, and there are enough animals on the 3rd floor. Be sure to look at the number that you are offered and the one you are going to change to. The renovation in the room is slightly better than in a three-star hotel in the Stavropol Territory, but inferior to the four stars of a small hotel in Makhachkala. Wi-Fi is available, but it works according to its own mood, sometimes it works in the room and on the beach, but it constantly falls off (you won't be able to download a movie on the road). A double bed is just two single beds connected, which creak very much, you cannot get out of bed without creaking and cracking sounds. Shampoo in the room is given once. In 11 days, it has not been changed for us, excellent compliance with five stars, a 50 ml tube for two and wash as you want. There is no smoking or non-smoking area in the hotel, everyone smokes where they want, ashtrays are even at the elevators on the floors.
2. A little bit about animals, cockroaches are running around in the dining room on bread, soup and other products, they have also been repeatedly noticed in the room, I do not want to spoil anyone's impression of the hotel with this phenomenon, but be prepared, I am sure in this climate, and other conditions, in other hotels the situation is exactly the same, I want to note that it was some kind of 2-3 day period when cockroaches were detected, it happened in the middle of the vacation, neither before nor after I or any of the vacationers saw them anymore, but everyone saw them. Be careful with the food, on an excursion in Havana, a friend from Russia found a cockroach in the soup with me, when everyone was taken to lunch, the waiter did not react at all, and asked convincingly: Have you finished or not? So be careful with the food. There are mosquitoes and our sprays do not help from them, I will not tell you about the effect of the fumigator, there was no such experience. I advise you to take this problem seriously, personally, I woke up from mosquitoes stably 3-4 times at night.
3. The food leaves much to be desired, if I went to Cuba again (looking ahead, I will say that I will not go anymore), I would choose hotels of 4 stars or lower, since 5 stars will give you absolutely nothing. The food in Cuba is generally not tasty, it's no secret to anyone. Drinks. I can't comment on alcohol (and cigars), soft drinks are similar to their popular counterparts, generally acceptable. The coffee is ordinary, not delicious, but not nasty either. If you do not want to stop loving tea, then it is better not to try it here and take tea with you from home. The dishes are constantly dirty, the glasses and glasses are dirty, the ice cream makers are terribly stained and stained, in general, you constantly have to eat from dirty dishes.
4. Waiters. It seems that the attitude towards Russians is worse than towards everyone else, the waiters offer coffee last of all at breakfast, if they even offer it at all (yes, you can't take coffee yourself, the waiter must come up, offer, then go to the office, where he will make coffee and bring it after). There is no milk stupidly, sometimes an omelet is made from eggs, and more often from a ready-made mixture (not tasty). Someone may note that foreigners leave more tips, but here I bet many leave $ 1. In my case, at least leave a tip, at least do not leave, it seems as if I borrowed from them, and I have not given it back for 2 years.
5. Speech. Russian Russian is possible to survive, but keep in mind, guides, administration and others give 100% of information in English, God forbid 10% in Russian, do not particularly count on the fact that everyone in Cuba speaks Russian, this is not so: not everything, and just a little bit, mostly phrases on duty.
6. Excursions. Prices are not cheap, the most budget-friendly is an excursion to Havana ($ 150 for two), an excursion to the uninhabited island of Casa Blanco will cost $ 230 (individual for 4 from $ 400 per couple) and so on. There is a lot of information about excursions, but it is very subjective, taste and color as they say, I will not reflect it here, I will only note that if the guide promises to bring you to the house of Rum in Havana, where, according to him, it is worth buying tobacco and rum at a good price - this is not so. They have their own feeding grounds, just like everywhere else. Everyone is advised to buy rum Legendaria Elixir (dark), which costs an average of $ 20 and all tourists look for it and buy it everywhere, although it is sold in St. Petersburg and Moscow in a popular store at a price of $ 18 (cheaper than in Cuba). And in general, guides create a stir around this brand and generate demand from tourists. Don't bring what you can buy at home.
7. The beach is an interesting place, clean, where you rarely meet merchants and others, but if you are tired of relaxing on a sunbed and want something new, take a course in the direction of Dupont's pitchfork, moving along the beach pass a rocky area (at low tide, walk along the edge, along the sand, at high tide do not I advise you to walk, but you can walk) when you reach the extreme visible point of the rocky terrain (a little behind the Dupont villa), sail a little and see a red flag on the cliff - it indicates a hole on the golf course, opposite which in the sea, on the seabed, find golf balls. Again, during high tide, waves and not a calm sea, I do not recommend it. If the golf balls are of little interest to you, move further along the cliff, you will find a cave, the entrance to which is located just above head level, there is no way to climb alone (slippery) but quite together. I do not recommend going into the cave, but it is quite possible to look at the large crabs living there.
8. Do you like to run, get ready for the start, or just keep fit? Great, then you will be like me doing morning runs and relaxing by the sea. For a two-week rest period, my weekly volume was reduced to 60-70 km, but this does not eliminate the daily jogging. There are few athletes here, most likely you will not meet anyone. I advise you to run at 6 in the morning (I used to go out at 5 for a long walk) Since it's already starting to get hot at 7:30. You have to run mostly along the highway, Cubans treat runners indifferently, feel free to run where you need to, how much you need and when you need to, it's safe on the streets at night and early in the morning. There is a chance to see fishermen fishing in the sea on an inflatable tire from a truck. If you run towards the Dolphinarium of Varadero, while on the bridge, call a dolphin - it will most likely swim, but it depends on the mood of the dolphin itself, he swam to me once, fawned and asked for fish - I shot great shots. It is absolutely impossible to feed dolphins! They only eat fish (and most likely only mackerel). On a morning jog, you will find a cornhusker circling over the golf courses, watering the field with water. Every time I met him, there was enough water from the sky for me too.
9. The gym is there and it's terrible. In the gym, I do only OFP and only use simulators for the development of leg muscles, however, there are no simulators for the development of leg muscles (the treadmill certainly does not count), foam (mat) for lying down is very dirty and there are only 3 of them, dumbbells in a layer of dust and dirt, and in general the shells are dirty, old, their performance is in doubt.
10. The market. Being on the market for the first time directly in Varadero itself, we liked the picture, the cost was announced at $ 65, we decided to think about it and left. Returning a week later, the cost of the painting was announced - $ 100, the seller was already different. The fact that it cost $65 a week ago did not convince him. As a result, we bought a painting from another seller, executed with the same colors, the same technique and with a similar landscape for $ 55. In this example, I draw attention to the fact that sellers have shifts at each point and they change, sometimes even the goods at the point completely change.
11. We had a vacation in September 2024, the VTB WORLD card, the WORLD Savings Bank did not work anywhere, we tried everywhere (Matrantas, Havana, Varadero) ATMs did not accept them either. There is no information why the card may not work anywhere, sellers just shrug their hands.
12. There is a Plaza America shopping center near the hotel, which has one of the chain supermarkets. There are few goods there, mainly alcohol and tomato paste, but the prices are among the lowest, you can immediately buy there, if you liked something, you will hardly find it cheaper (only from the hands on the market, which I do not advise you). In the queue at the supermarket, I met our compatriots who tortured the store clerk in broken English, asking "where are the Lays or other chips". For those who do not know, but as practice shows, there are still such, Cuba has been under sanctions for more than 60 years, you will not find Coca-Cola, McDonald's and chips here (I saw a few sanctioned goods under the counter in Havana, but this was an isolated case, for example, there is a RedBull in Varadero, 0.25 ml costs 6$)
13. Taxi. Prices vary, depending on the type of transport, its condition and uniqueness, but there is about a local fee of $ 1 per kilometer. Varadero Shopping Center is 5 km from Melia Las Americas. Taxi drivers begin to offer their services from $ 10 on this route (for retro copies in a depressing condition) the above information is a reason for bargaining.
14. Someone once surveyed Cuba and said: "Cuba is the place where a 4-star hotel can be better than a 5-star hotel" and this is so, do not focus on the stars, read the reviews and choose what you like best, regardless of the rating.

The food is more or less decent, there is even fruit))) The ocean is gorgeous, the beach is huge, and there are picturesque cliffs nearby. Animation every day! There are new rooms, but not really. But everything that needs to work. The bar is replenished. There was no begging or dependence on tips. The Russian-speaking woman Ivan is super friendly, he will tell you everything and show you. 9. Go to the center of Varadero itself (there is an excellent seafood restaurant there and you can feed pelicans)
