4 stars because the service is lame. On the day of arrival, we sat until 16:00 (check-in), then we were told to wait another two hours :( On the first day we lived in the wrong place at all and almost without everything (towels, etc.) On the 2nd day we were moved to a normal place, and then everything became normal 👌 The beach is super! Normal food, evening activities (mostly dancing)

Hello. Melia Peninsula, which means (Peninsula) in English. We were in 2022 at the end of November. I can say the following. The hotel, of course, has different types of rooms and different attitudes towards guests. Service extortion reigns everywhere. The wind blows constantly in these places. The Gulf of Mexico is generally warm for November. But there are big waves because of the wind. The territory is very large and well maintained. Lots of greenery. Any kind of sports for an additional fee. The food is monotonous, but you won't stay hungry. The result is this, it will work for once. But this is certainly not a Paradise.

We flew to Cuba for the first time, the hotel is definitely better than expected. A huge green area, for those who find it stressful to walk, electric cars constantly ply, and roll with the breeze from the restaurant to the rooms. The room is about 40 m2, spacious enough, the furniture is simple, in a colonial style. The balcony is rather big. There are 2 rooms on the floor, but they are located in such a way that they have never seen each other with their neighbors. They are cleaned daily, swans are twisted out of towels and blankets, flowers every day, regardless of tips. By the way, there is no tea, in principle, in Cuba, there is a kettle in the room, we brought our own tea, and drank it. Due to the time difference, we woke up early and saved the snack bar by the pool, coffee would be brewed, a sandwich would be offered. Dawn on the beach at 6-50 was at this time. Posh. We'll swim for breakfast too. I have a bad-eating child, I balked for a couple of days, then I learned to find something edible for myself and I didn't sweat, I didn't go hungry. Even he sometimes went to a restaurant, took what he wanted: pizza, pasta, chocolate ice cream, grilled poultry meat, yogurt in the morning, cereal, omelet. My husband does not eat meat and milk, and also never went hungry, liked something more, something less, tried different things. At lunch, there are always vegetable or fish-seafood soups, which are optionally filled with rice, pasta, crackers. Sausages are also fine, who eats. Salads are unusual, some may like it, some may not, but we also want new holiday experiences. Beer, rum - generally always. I didn't like the wine and champagne. I've never tasted cocktails so different before. The cocktails are good in the lobby bar, on the beach it's simpler, but near the ocean, under the sound of waves under a palm umbrella, it's a buzz. The beach is long in both directions, walking is very cool. One way- to the port, As you will see the lighthouse, you can turn off and go to the port. In the other direction, they walked along the plough to the 500-year-old baobab tree. We reached him by maps. The hotel has a specific Internet connection, using cards for 10 hours, and you constantly need to log in with a username and password. The cards are given free of charge at the reception. Take a lot of bread products from the restaurant, we fed them by hand and just threw and swam among them. The beach itself, the entrance to the water is hooshi, without pits and stones. I swim with a mask and there are also different fish near the shore, starfish and fancy shells. It's just my element. I collected again various "strange shells" I was carrying in my luggage, everything is normal. It is not allowed in hand luggage! During the inspection in front of me, the girl's backpack was pulled out and removed with the words "not allowed", Pegasus guide Anastasia, at a meeting the next day upon arrival, told many nuances of what is possible, what is not and how best. Thanks to her, the advice helped. Important! Take the dollars. Dodgers are everywhere! they count at the rate of 1:1 dollar-euro. Do not change to the local currency at all, it is not profitable. And they take dollars everywhere. The cards work too. Ala-kart restaurants are very specific. It's worth going for fun. Then, if anything, go to the main one. Don't expect much from Cuba and it will give you more of what you wanted. We swam with dolphins, ate lobsters, rode on retro machines, tried cigars-we had not smoked before-and we will not, drank rum, saw Havana, walked along the shore, met sunsets and sunrises. I read the reviews about the hotel before buying. There were both terrible and wonderful ones, because I always try to focus not on the bad, but on the good, I didn't pay much attention to the bad ones. And I regretted it very much afterwards. I hope my experience will help other people with choosing a hotel. Honestly objectively. There was no thought of offending Cubans. But it's anything but 5 stars. 3 people had a family vacation. Don't listen to agents/acquaintances/ that Cuba is NOT about the service, that Cuba is under sanctions, that they have a crisis. This is nothing but an excuse. Everything depends solely on the management and on the PEOPLE! Positive: Ocean. He's mesmerizing. Sunrises and sunsets of extraordinary beauty. Friendly staff. The waiters are working hard. The territory of the hotel. Beautiful. Wide, good paths, the grass is in desperate need of watering. The rainy season, it would seem, but there are very few of them. A puddle near the main dining room or what should I call it? Something has to be done with it))) The cat didn't cry enough water in the pool, and even then, during his stay, the water was almost always green and dirty. And only sometimes bluish. There should be fish swimming or nothing), but garbage is floating. Canteen. It would be more correct to say hell's canteen. Flies, cockroaches, birds. Mud. I can't bring myself to call it a restaurant. You won't be able to eat anywhere in peace. Flies will bother you inside. They're everywhere. And an endless "symphony" of sounds. Outside, the birds will interfere. Don't even think about leaving a plate of food and going for something else. The birds will immediately take everything away. And even if you are sitting at the table, the birds will try to get to the next plate on your table. The cherry on the cake will be cockroaches. If you pay attention!! read other reviews (on different sites), it turns out that it is not by chance that a cockroach flew in for lunch, no, they are stupidly everywhere there. But, this does not mean that you will meet cockroaches in droves every five seconds. For 15 days of rest, 4 times were enough for me (from large to small). Read the reviews, it was like that BEFORE covid. Meal. This is a separate kind of art. The meal begins with the word queue. The queue for breakfast is already 10-15 minutes before the opening. The queue for waffles (and they're terrible, don't waste your time); the queue for scrambled eggs, the queue for toast. Don't forget about the birds while you're queuing! Queues force cooks to cook faster, which means you will get an undercooked piece of beef, fish for dinner. Vegetables. There are none. Cucumbers, sausage, sliced in different ways and there are a variety of vegetables on the buffet. Salads are anything but salads. They threw in what was left and mixed it with a mixture of everything that was left. Fruits are impossible to eat in the country of fruits. Except - mango, papaya. They are incomparable. I naively assumed that these are tasteless watermelons and pineapples in Russia))) Ahn, no. It can be worse. Here. Salt. The food is unsalted. But the salt is given out strictly by a little bit. Sometimes in a salt shaker, but more often raw salt will be brought to you on a platter. Thin napkins are given out one at a time. The tables themselves are always dirty, the napkins for dinner are crumpled, so you don't immediately know if they are new or used. Very rarely there were puff pastry hearts for breakfast, we used them to escape. Dining room near the beach. This is hell on earth. Why am I saying this, because it's hell. If there is a breeze, you can still somehow sit out … although, in fact, you can not. Snack bar by the pool. They serve it - a Cuban burger (bun + 1 sausage, cut into 4 parts) is very edible! But dirty tables that look strictly at half-open toilets blur the whole picture. It is absolutely necessary to cover it with a screen / flowers. When the sausages are finished, put the chicken with carrots / ham + cheese. Sometimes it ends stupidly and buns. Then they just give sausages, if there are any))) Mustard, ketchup (common to all tourists), French fries are available, but not always. Rooms. There are no closets in the rooms. There are hangers, but the way they are positioned is a paragraph. It is problematic to hang/remove. The rooms are tired. They demand, no, they literally scream for repairs. The mini-bar is not replenished, but the truck that delivers drinks for the mini-bar goes regularly. It's unclear where everything goes! Gels, shampoos, toilet paper, and water must be requested. To do this, you need to look for a maid. Towels and linen are not changed. To somehow stop all this bacchanalia, I had to go to Pablo (a Russian-speaking employee at the reception). All hope is in him. Pablo is able to solve some of your problems. But one employee at the hotel simply cannot do everything at once: bring, clean, change, give, apologize for the whole hotel in the end. I can imagine how tired he is. After all, the negativity is pouring on him! Do not be fooled by the reviews that the maids will faithfully clean your room for the presents. Don't waste precious space in your luggage. If you take the gift to Pablo, because he will give you WATER! And even better, take ketchup, salt, napkins, Cookies for yourself! The towels thrown on the floor will be shaken out by the maid and hung back up!! The linen was changed only partially in two weeks. Once returning to the hotel after the tour, it turned out that mustard had taken all three sheets with which to hide; that is, she had changed them. But I FORGOT to put the others. And I also took away good toilet paper (by the standards of Cuba!!!) and I put the cheapest one. There is no concept of wiping the table, shelves, countertop in the bathroom, toilet, floor in the wardrobe, in the bathroom, on the balcony in principle. There is an air conditioner in the room, but it lives its own life, and so do the room opening cards. Beach. There are not enough sunbeds catastrophically. Those that exist are mostly broken, sagged. To lie on the beach under an umbrella, you need to take a sunbed at 6 am. Either pay $1 to the beach boy, he will borrow it for you on his own. In two weeks, the tractor cleaning the beach has passed only once. The sand was not sifted at all. Changing beach towels is generally a separate quest game. And anyway, why change them?! Well, just think of sand, salt, humidity that does not allow them to dry. A little sticky, a little nasty, and it'll do. - Know the wedge tower- behind the glass, you will see it often. In the lobby bar, drinks are most often served in plastic bottles. What are the five stars? What half a million for a vacation. This hotel is worthless. It would be a pity to give away a ruble. For the first time in my life, by the end of my vacation, I said Hooray! Finally home! I wanted to escape not from the ocean, but FROM the hotel very, very much! And yes, I forgot about the advantages. Luxury excursions that have nothing to do with the hotel) all excursions were taken individually. They were a great success!

When we arrived, the hotel was 10% full, the food was like in a school cafeteria, when a lot of people arrived, there were queues, but the variety of food became better. You won't be hungry, but you won't get high either. We slept at the 24-hour pool bar, very tasty tuna sandwiches and fries. The territory is old, like the rooms, but very clean. In general, the hotel, if you do not take into account the food, is very good. The beach is clean and nice, the deck chairs are intact, the entry into the ocean is long, for children the most important thing is free catamarans and kayaks on the beach. The alcohol is good, they pour it, they do not regret it, you can also buy bottles at the beach bar, just do not light purchases on the territory, I personally took 0.7 rum for 5 bucks. By the way, on the subject of money, the hotel takes both euros and dollars smartly, the animators sometimes asked to change their small dollars for my large bill, it's good for me, I can leave a tip, but it's good for them that instead of 20 one-dollar bills they have one twenty. Coconuts are easy to buy from any handyman on the territory, they usually prune bushes or mow grass, carry garbage, in general, you come up, say coconut, give you a dollar and he will immediately pry a coconut, of course he will cut off the top and, if lucky, insert a tube. I brought snickers nuts with me, gave the maids a dollar and a chocolate bar, they were delighted. And once I gave a bottle of Russian vodka and some chocolates to the administrator of the pool bar Yo-Yo (Yo-Yo) such a bald grandpa is active, so I had the whole vacation with alcohol and snacks without waiting in line, when I went on excursions, he wrapped burgers with me. I would not go to this hotel a second time, well, if only the price is sweet. By the way, it is better to go to the city not by bus, but by taxi. Get off at the bus stop, a retro car immediately pulls up and offers services. I arranged for $10 there and 2 hours back.

Very bad food, I do not recommend eating eggs there, my wife went to squid, all for tips, although it is unclear why - zero+ service. The location is good and the beach, the bartender on the beach is a good person. Cuba, in terms of hotel service, is as far from the Dominican Republic as China is from cancer. Think before you go.

A cozy but old hotel. The territory is very large and well maintained. A wonderful beach, despite the fact that the spit is narrow. But sun beds are a different story. Part of it is broken, it is simply not possible to lie on many of them. Cleaning every day, but the linen was changed 1 time in 10 days and then when asked. The food is normal, you will not stay hungry. But everything is bland, if you ask for salt, there is no pepper at all. Fish, meat, everything every day. Very tasty ice cream. Fresh fruit is made in the morning.

The hotel is not five at all, three at most. Of course, I understand that this is Cuba. Everything in the room is old, the cleaning is disgusting, although tips were left. There are red cockroaches in the dining room. In the evening, it's boring, as if the pensioners were resting alone. Evening animation is not designed for Russians at all. Cuba itself was very pleasant, but the hotel is a complete disappointment.

The check-in was quick, a representative of the hotel met, told about the hotel, conducted and helped with PCR tests, distributed refreshing cocktails, then issued room cards at the reception and on a towel, and pieces of paper on the Internet, it is free, but you need to periodically approach the reception to extend the time. the only thing is that the car with the first tourists left with their luggage, but we no longer waited, looked at the map and went ourselves. The 2014 room is clean (in the middle of the hotel), everything works, the furniture is good new (tourists from other hotels said they had an old, tubby one), in the bathroom there is a hair dryer, two shower heads and a large installation, shampoo, shower gel. mini bar every day (two sodas, two beers, and 1.5 bottles of water). The cleaning is excellent, we always return to a fresh, clean room from the beach) The food is good-there is a lot of variety, it takes a very long time to list, but also shrimp and several types of fish, meat (beef, chicken, pork, sometimes baked pig is served in the evening), ice cream, papaya, guava, pineapples, bananas, oranges. Mango is out of season now. By the way, there is no tea in the hotel! But this is also true for other hotels, there are kettles in the room, we took bags with us from home. The pool bar has burgers, sandwiches, and potatoes working around the clock. If you go on an excursion or to the airport in the morning, you can eat there. According to the animation, there is only a show now, we were told so far because of the intensification of the pandemic measures, but after the 15th they will do it, although we fly away on the 13th) but charging on the beach, in the afternoon in the aqua aerobics pool, in the evening children are entertained near the lobby, then usually dancing for adults. We took an excursion to Havana, not from the operators, they are more expensive, I found an agency through Instagram, and tourists wrote about it immediately according to reviews on tophotels for our hotel (cuba_havana_today), and a cheaper and comfortable transfer for 10 people, they brought food twice, maybe the operators include food, but the difference 25 euros, my sister and I ordered burgers in one place, lobsters and cocktails in another place. By the way, you can order lobster in the ala-maps of the hotel, make an appointment in advance (there are several types of them-Japanese, Cuban, international and Italian-these are all in two restaurants in the same building, so record for different days, you need to look at which day where you can sign up), and immediately say that you would like additional lobster (20 euros). And since visiting two restaurants a week is free, we were already in Japanese, just saw how lobster was being cooked at the next table. But we liked the Cuban one more. We signed up for the international and Cuban again this week) The hotel staff is very friendly, I really like the service, drinks are always brought quickly in the restaurant, they serve quickly in bars, but in the restaurant you have to stand for hot, but they cook everything fresh in front of you, someone wrote that it was not fried, we did not have that. They changed tips at the reception for local pesos (there were just no small euros), they also brought Alenka chocolate, medicines (there is a shortage here now, so they gladly take antipyretics), and cosmetics for the girls as gifts. The beach is not wide, but there are a lot of hammocks, there are enough for everyone, there were waves one day-it was forbidden to swim, we rested by the pool.

We are resting now.The hotel is good.The territory is excellent.Everything is calm.Animators work on the beach and by the pool.They give their best)There are no questions about nutrition.We understand that precautions with Covid play a role.There are queues, but it is tolerable.Everything works well, but there is a problem.When the locals arrive, a lot of things change immediately.In the restaurant, they are allowed to pass without waiting in line.In the evening, one entertainment is a disco.First, the nursery.The music is the same every day according to the schedule)After that, the adult disco begins.And here's the most curious thing!)It plays for the local population.Cuban only.Of course, our people can't stand it and start dancing.Well, it goes without saying.I've had a few cocktails and I want to dance.When asked to turn on Russian, and they have it (it sounds on the pool), they say "yes".))) and that's it!)That's the end of it.The evening ends like an animation on the beach.They show the movements of local dances!)

The cutlets are undercooked, the meat is overcooked, the turkey is fine, but it's not always, great ice cream, but there's always a queue behind it, everything is done slowly!There is no tea in Cuba, only coffee, there was cocoa at breakfast once, but it ended quickly, and they didn't give me a ride anymore! If you close your eyes to everything, then enjoy the ocean, nothing lies on the beach for a long time, even towels, they left flip-flops on the sunbed, and by the evening they were no longer found, no one finds anything!

I'm at the hotel now. Cuba is a colorful country, and the hotel staff is trying very hard. And if everything does not work out 100%, it is not their fault, but a consequence of a difficult stage in the life of the country. The colonial-style hotel fits very organically into the atmosphere: the sea, nature, beach, territory - beyond praise. The food is great, maybe something for 5, something for 4. The coffee in the lobby is amazing. The pool bar is a special thanks to the staff, they love their work very much and create a holiday. Lunch at the restaurant on the beach: local cuisine + concert! Super! Dadir's maid makes swans and bows, very cute. And the room cleaning is perfect! Pablo and Bosch are trying very hard, they work with Russian tourists and are sincerely glad to have guests. I recommend it for an unforgettable vacation. Enjoy it!

We rested at the Melia peninsula hotel from 30.09 to 10.10.2021. The impressions are the most positive: from the beginning of reception and check-in to the entire period of stay at the hotel. A travel agency met him at the airport and directed him to the bus. They were quickly taken from the airport to the hotel, took a PCR test and delivered to the rooms. The hotel has a very well-maintained territory, a large number of different plants, beautiful and tall palm trees, a swimming pool. The food in the dining room is varied, there is enough meat and sausages, several types of fish, and a lot of pastries (cookies, buns, cakes, cakes), natural juices were prepared in the morning. Earlier, according to reviews, I read that the food in hotels in Cuba is fresh and completely not salty, they recommended taking salt and sauces with me, which I did. However, as for the cuisine of this hotel, the food is delicious and quite good for salt, I have never used the spices I brought. In this regard, I would like to note the work of the chef, who periodically went out into the dining room and inspected some processes outside the kitchen, and also responded to our request, thereby fulfilling our special wish. Drinks (rum, beer, wine, coffee) were brought by waiters to the dining room many times, having previously clarified the client's desire. There is a 24-hour pool bar on site, as well as a lobby bar and a beach bar, which prepare a variety of delicious drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I would like to mention the pina colado drink and the Santiago de Cuba rum. The rooms at the hotel are spacious, there is a safe, ironing board, iron, kettle, bathrobes. The room was cleaned every day, which surprised me, the bed and towels were changed every day as well. The staff is friendly and positive, the main thing is there is no fuss, all requests were solved calmly and quickly. When asked to move us to another room (due to the difficulty of being near noisy neighbors), the girl at the Reception reacted immediately and within 10 minutes found us another one, offering to first inspect the new room, and then only move. I really want to mention the work of: the chef, thanks to whom the food was delicious and healthy; the hotel administrator, who was constantly in touch and solved many questions and requests; and some of the waiters who served us - surprisingly attentive women: Ariel, Barbie, Maria and Cindy. Still, I want to say that rest depends on the mood and mood of the people themselves, and the amazingly beautiful ocean and the hotel will add their own colors to life.

On the plus side: Everything is very good in terms of nutrition, unlike neighboring hotels. Of the cons: The destroyed infrastructure (half of the showers on the territory are not working, tiles are broken, watering cans are torn off, sun beds on the beach are sagged and without mattresses, toilet cubicles without locks, peeling, etc., etc.) and the same rooms (locks on balconies that do not work, lack of mirrors, shabby walls, wobbly furniture, protruding wires, etc. and etc.). Poor room service (they couldn't get through to the reception, toilet paper and water were knocked out into the rooms with scandals, etc.).

We have been at this hotel since October 23rd. Tomorrow is the flight home, and today, while packing our bags, we decided to write a few words about the hotel. Despite the restrictions on covid, the hotel gave the impression that all the staff is trying. Any employee, even a gardener and a plumber, greets you and wishes you a good day. The staff is very polite and smiling. We should also mention the staff of the pool bar, you are very cool! Many thanks to the doctors who helped our child when she had an earache - especially Dr. Julio Carmenate. Angelo and Pablo were also in touch every day, they helped in every possible way with advice. Separately, it is worth highlighting the F&B manager Moad, who was interested every day how we were doing, how we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We celebrated our daughter's birthday in an a la carte restaurant, and Moad took into account all our wishes for dinner, the menu, and the cake. The cake was very tasty and so big that we couldn't eat it all. Despite the not very large assortment of food in the main restaurant, everything is very tasty and well prepared - thanks a lot to the chef for his efforts, and for the kitchen staff. There are several disadvantages in the hotel, but they are so insignificant that you do not notice them at all against the background of positive impressions from the rest. I hope the pandemic will end soon, all restrictions will be lifted, and we will be happy to return to the hotel again. Thank you, Cuba, thank you Melia, thank you, Moad for a positive vacation!
