Soldiers of the First World War are honored in Belarus! Few people know that in 1856 the Russian Imperial Army introduced a special direction of soldier training-gymnastics! In 1873, special guidance was sent to the unit so that by January 1, 1875, they would submit a report on its effectiveness. All exercises were divided into 5 sections:-simple, interactive (paired), with hand-held devices, machine exercises and running. The full course included more than 300 movements from each department, which can be mastered taking into account the time, place and means available to the student. It was assumed that after a year of daily classes, most recruits could pass the standards: -run with a satchel in ammunition, with a rifle in line companies 10, and in rifle companies 20 minutes -jump over a moat 5 yards wide (3.55 meters) Cross any moat on a log at a height of one and a half arshins. - Bend your arms 8 times on parallel bars, jumping forward, backward, or to the side correctly. Climb a vertical rope to a height of 1 fathom (213 cm) Run up a steep slope with a height of 1 fathom, and then jump from a height. It was recommended to build an obstacle course-an earthen fortification of a strong profile, reinforced with notes, wolf pits, chess stakes, palisade walls, palisades and barricades and other obstacles invented by military engineers at that time.. "The company that will climb such a fortification is ready to overcome any obstacles At the same time, skills are developed for getting hooked, jumping, etc.,. and the lower ranks visually get acquainted with the field even temporary fortifications, which will be useful later in attacks and assaults on enemy earthworks.." (Did not remind the 9th company?!) It is also interesting that under the leadership of Tsarevich Alexander Pavlovich, the units located in the vicinity of Warsaw were engaged in the preparation of a capable surprise me.This voyage, two schools were organized-for cavalry and infantry.. The course was 2 months, at the end of which the cavalryman had to swim across the Vistula without rest at least 6 times, and some of them did it twice in uniforms, with officers in front.. there are cases when the Vistula was formed by whole regiments.. In the 1896 swimming instruction manual, a full-strength unit must be able to swim through water obstacles from 200 to 500 fathoms ((from 400 to 1000 meters! Fencing among officers also received great attention Attention was also paid to physical training, as Cadets would say now, in the photo the funny company 110 of the Kama regiment, drawings from the charter of the Cossack service in 1889, Tsarevich Alexander in the uniform of the Cossack regiment in Leipzig.
