Памятник изначально сооружён в память погибших за посёлок Долгое и станцию Долгая. На стеле перечислены наименования воинских соединений и имена и звания погибших. Позже перед памятником были установлены плиты с фотографиями, именами должанцев - Героев Советского Союза и России. На оборотной стороне каждой плиты приведён указ о соответствующем награждении. Настоятельно рекомендуется к посещению. Горит Вечный огонь.
