An incredible monastery surrounded by rocks and a green forest! You need to turn off the road by following the sign and drive literally a kilometer along a wide dirt road. There is a landscaped area around the monastery, a large parking space, and urns everywhere. There is complete peace and grace in the monastery. The connection doesn't work. There is a church, a bell tower and a spring. Delicious water! I wanted to drink and drink. According to legend, this is the healing water from the river, where the blood of monks killed here centuries ago flowed. Modern monks live in simple houses next to the temple, and you can't even imagine how quiet their pace of life is.… I strongly advise you to turn off the road and look here!

One of the most memorable places in Georgia! Maybe by contrast: after the cities of Batumi, Tbilisi, it delighted with its tranquility, nature, and authenticity. The Green Monastery is about "slowing down...". We left the car after we entered a small gate, then walked about a kilometer. By the way, you can get to the monastery by car - the road is not bad, there is Parking. But it's also great to walk along a river (or stream), past rocks, trees, and rocks. The monastery itself is small, beautiful, and ancient, with a former bell tower nearby (there are monks' skulls there) and dilapidated cells. You can also refresh yourself with spring water behind the monastery. In general, I really liked it, even the children were quiet) The place reminded my husband and son of landscapes from the game Skyrim, quote: "so that's what inspired the designers of the game" 🙂

This place was recommended by a local resident who rents a place and brought it to the monastery herself. It was on August 20, 2025. The place is fascinating for its location, in a forest where it is very quiet and peaceful. You really are transported to another time, to the past, and you don't want to rush anywhere, but stop time for reflection and peace of mind. We heard the bell ringing, it doesn't sound like it does in Russia, in a special way. There is a small temple where the remains of monks are kept and a temple where services are held, 7-8 springs. Locals recommend taking a sip of water from each spring and washing your face, washing those places that hurt. I watched the locals take a glass or a small bottle where they take water from all the springs and drink it. There is information in Georgian, Russian and English at the entrance. To experience this place, you need to know at least a brief history of the monastery's creation. If you need a place of strength and peace, then you are here.

Quiet, beautiful, sounds of water and forest, well-groomed territory, photogenic buildings There are a lot of people in the summer, out of season - an ideal place for a leisurely walk In 2023, the cells were fenced with an ugly solid fence made of profiled sheet, but the monastery cats like it even more. The services on holidays in summer and early autumn gather a lot of parishioners, they cannot enter the temple. Out of season - exactly the opposite. The road to the monastery is easy by car at any time of the year, but if you are here early in the morning, take a walk from the highway, the rocky gorge itself is very beautiful, shady and cool. You can park at the end of the road.
