The Monastery of St. Gabriel is a very beautiful and atmospheric place, quiet and bright. The entrance fee as of January 2026 is 150 liras. The tour is included in the ticket price, we were given a guided tour in English, shown and told about all the iconic places and events.

The Mor Gabriel monastery is a modest, impressive, architecturally simple and still actively used building like other monasteries or worship areas in Mardin. The monastery is one of the famous and great works of the Ancient Syriac Community. It was built on a high hill covered with oak trees. The foundations of the monastery were laid by Savurlu Mor Smuel and Kartminli Mor Şemun in 397 and the structure was completed in a short time. Octals have been made inside and outside on different dates. It is definitely one of the places to visit in the region. There is a small fee at the door. Since the monastery is active and its inhabitants live there, not every point is open. Of course, the places that are open are also worth visiting.

A beautiful monastery with a picturesque view of the surrounding area. You can only walk around the monastery with an escort. If you did not come with a group, then the security will call an employee who will walk with you and talk about the monastery, but there is a nuance - the story will be in Turkish, so either smile and wave, or it's good if someone translates.
