Shkhara -(translated from Balkar means "not monolithic".But there is another version of the translation as "the ninth peak". The mountain peak of Shkhara is the ninth in a row, reaching a height of five thousand two hundred meters). The highest point in Georgia. It is located near the Russian-Georgian border, in the Russian Kabardino-Balkaria region on the north side and in the Svaneti region of Georgia in the south. Shkhara is located 88 kilometers north of the city of Kutaisi, the second largest city in Georgia, and closer to the town of Mestia in Svaneti. The peak is located in the central part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range, southeast of Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. Shkhara is the third highest peak in the Caucasus, immediately after Dakhtau.
