We flew from St. Petersburg to Urgench, and not to another city just for the sake of the Aral Sea. Then we took a taxi for 3 hours to Nukus. We spent the night there and then another 3 hours by taxi to Muynak, the sea itself. 2 hours there and then again 3 hours by taxi to Nukus. Everything to see the Aral Sea. The trip is not easy, but if you go there just to see and do not know anything about the history of the Aral Sea, then do not waste time and effort. If, like us, you review a bunch of films and reread a bunch of articles about the Aral Sea in order to understand the scale of the disaster, then you definitely need to go! It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing to see. In the town of Muynak itself, there are one and a half hotels and one and a half cafes, do not count on Uzbek abundance. But you won't starve, you can find a place to eat.

The Stella and the museum are dedicated to the tragedy of the Aral Sea. In the museum you can see the works of artists Rafael Matevosyan and Faim Madgazin, photographs of that time, as well as watch a film about the Aral Sea.
