Great place to visit if you have nothing else to do. Pricely, though...

A wonderful museum. There are a lot of interesting interactive pieces (listen, watch, turn). I really liked the temporary exhibition "Indomitable Art". The museum has a very peaceful garden with birds, flowers and silence.

We were with a child, February 2020. A child is free, an adult is 14 euros. The first two floors are boring to fly, although there are a couple of interactive attractions. I was in the museum 10 years ago, I see that some of the exhibitions have been updated. But the third floor (workshop) is super for kids! You can touch everything there and participate in everything. I would have refused to climb on a horse as a child))))
On the ground floor there is a cafe, soup lunch 10.5 euros, pastries from 3 to 6 euros. Modest in general, but delicious! We had a good lunch and continued our inspection. This is one of my favorite museums in Finland. The Athenaeum is still an art gallery (there is nothing to do with a child there).

To be honest, for 12-15 euros you can find more interesting places. The building is beautiful from the outside, it's worth a look, and it's not bad inside either. However, the exposition is rather meager, although it is presented non-trivially, in some places very even.
If you are limited in time, it is better to go to the Athenaeum.

An interactive museum where almost everything needs to be touched with your hands. The story from mammoths to the present day.
Very cool! The 10-year-old child was delighted. He says he didn't expect it himself.

From the outside, the beautiful archetectural structure attracts and fascinates the eye. But once inside the building, you will be stunned by its beauty.

We were limited in time, our room was about 1 hour, it takes about three hours to take a closer look. The cost is 12 euros per person. The expositions are interesting from the Stone Age to modern Finland.
