A very cool place, a view of the valley, the monks, if they are in the mood to conduct a mini-tour, be sure to leave donations, they really need them, if you do not have time to take the Shuttle to the top, then walk 2 hours into a huge slide

I liked the monastery for its ancient architecture, interesting museum and kind-hearted woman guide who speaks Russian. There is a manhole under the walls on the territory, I'm not sure if you can go down there, but no one forbade us and there were no forbidding signs, so it's better to ask the locals if you can go there if you get ready. On the downside, at the time of writing the review, there is a reconstruction of the exterior walls, but when it is finished, it will be even better.

I'll start with a good one, the place is beautiful. Not only can you wander here, but you can sit on a bench (unfortunately alone) and admire the Alazani Valley. You can get there by taxi, car or will be taken on an excursion to the foot of the mountain. About once every 60 minutes, there is a single bus that takes you up the serpentine to the temple itself. It takes 15 minutes to go up, 15 minutes down, and 30 minutes to see the sights. The ticket for one person is 3 GEL. There must be at least 10 people in order for the bus to go. We were there in the morning and didn't see any people, so we had to buy the rest of the seats to buy the bus. Many people, especially young people who save money, walk. They climbed for about 1 hour, with a brisk step. It doesn't seem to be far away, but there is a steep mountain along the serpentine. No one forbids walking. If an excursion arrives, they calculate the seats and do not get hooked on them. From above, there is a wonderful view of the entire Alazani Valley. We were in May 2025 at about 10 a.m., nothing was working, one watchman was peacefully wandering between the buildings and that was it. The bad news is that there is no infrastructure, even down at the entrance. No coffee/tea, no food. Rustic toilet - a hole in the floor. There are many stray dogs roaming here and all over Georgia.
