So, yesterday we got to the homeland of the artist Lev Bakst, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Stefan Bathory, and coffee in a rebel way, with moonshine and burnt sugar.
We are in Grodno. A unique, very nice green town, with "its own face". In the most charming city in Belarus, undoubtedly.
Opening 1. Coffee. There are a lot of coffee shops in the center and they make excellent coffee. The soul and stomach rejoice synchronously.
Opening 2. Draniki. How they are cooked here, wai! The guide advised us one modest place and that's it, my son is missing. You can't drag him to other places to eat. He demands these very draniki, and basta.
Opening 3. Borisoglebskaya or Kalozhskaya church. It hit me right in the heart. What is the most central thing in the heart? Here, right there.
Opening 4. Crows. Brisk and cunning. There are plenty of them here. The contents of the urns are being stolen. They admire their arrogance and intelligence.
Opening 5. The old castle, built in the XVI century by Stefan Bathory. Renovated, with interactive cartoon performances and a wonderful view of the Neman River from the observation wall.
Opening 6. Fire tower. With a trumpeter who goes out on her balcony every day, 1 time, at exactly 12 o'clock and plays a unique melody, gathering crowds of tourists at the foot of the tower. And the ghost of a firefighter in the photo zone near the walls of the fire station.

An interesting museum. Very close to the New Castle. It looks more like a local history museum. The new castle was built as a royal palace in 1734-1751. The General Sejms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth were held here.In this building, during the last Sejm, an agreement was signed on the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with Russia and Prussia, and in 1795, Polish King Stanislaw August Poniatowski signed the act of abdication. In July 1944, the building burned down as a result of military operations, and was restored in the neoclassical style.

The museum is not bad, but there is a feeling that half of the staff just wants to sleep on their chairs all day. The toilet is in great need of repair.
The exposition is very interesting in places. There are halls with icons, paintings and furniture. There are many stuffed animals and birds.

It would be fine, but there is no Russian language on any sign, only Belarusian and English! The staff is indifferent - the cashier, seeing us walking to the checkout, gets up and leaves for ten minutes, the museum staff in the exhibition halls only supervise so that nothing is touched and it is useless to try to talk to them! 😞 Left a very negative impression.......

It is unclear why the state museum did not make inscriptions in two official languages. The museum staff assured that the management is aware and there is no money, and the type of Belarusian and English was originally. It's hard to believe. There was no complaint book, so we are writing here. There are many tourists from Russia and I would like to be able to read the inscriptions in the state language.

Very beautiful. But it is not well maintained. The exposition is fine. But the cerberus aunts do not add much to the impressions. Clean up the yard. And put a cafe in the courtyard, at least water and kvass.

I recommend. An interesting exposition about the development of life on Earth: the finds of archaeologists, installations of what was then and the location of continents are combined. This is a rarity. I have never seen such a technique anywhere.

Unfortunately, apart from the building, there is essentially nothing left of the castle. Very sorry. I would like to recommend visiting and seeing the exhibition, but only in order to support the museum business of Belarus.

A very interesting exposition related to the animal and plant world. The showcases with the periods of development of life on earth, from the origin of life to the appearance of the first people, are very beautifully decorated. I think it will be very informative not only for schoolchildren, but also for adults.

It was in the New Castle during the last Diet of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1793 that the agreement on the division of the country with Russia and Prussia was signed.
Subsequently, the palace housed a hospital and barracks. The interior and exterior of the building have been significantly changed.
In July 1944, the Baroque building burned down as a result of military operations. It was rebuilt in 1952 in the style of Soviet neoclassicism. It housed the regional committee of the CPSU.
In 1991, the New castle was transferred to accommodate cultural organizations: the regional library and the museum.

I can write about Grodno museums for a long time. A wonderful museum in the New Castle, an interesting exposition, you can book a tour and the guide will tell you everything and show you.
The Old Castle will open soon after renovation and reconstruction. And in general, there are many more museums in Grodno and most are within walking distance. Nearby is the museum of the fire service (free of charge), the Museum of the history of religion, the Kunstkammer, the prison museum (the only one in Belarus).
Welcome to Grodno!

I was impressed by the mowed lawn and the appearance of the building on the mountain. Inside there is a complete state department, an ordinary palace of culture. There is no Russian language anywhere, go and guess what's what. The employees leave much to be desired. It is better to go to the old castle 2 times.

A beautiful place, an interesting, quite diverse exposition, I liked it, it was interesting to see.
Some caretakers of the halls of the main exposition failed, who about 5 minutes before closing began to expel them by shouting that they needed to close the halls. Apparently, they were afraid to stay even an extra minute ... (at the same time, a separate paid exhibition, an exhibition of stones on the ground floor, continued its work)
