The observation deck is the Charents Arch, a must see on the way to Garni. As Andrei Bitov, the founder of postmodernism in Russian literature, wrote, once here, "I saw the first lines of God." If you are lucky with clear weather, then Ararat from here is an unforgettable miracle. The arch is named after the poet Yeghishe Charents, whose portrait upon arrival in Armenia can be seen on old-style thousand-dollar bills. The poet was especially famous for the poem "Yerkir Nairi", where the greatness of Ararat was praised. Next to the Arch, you can see the "most crooked" Armenian village. And you can also see a panorama of Mount Yeranos and Yerevan from a bird's-eye view!
