Visiting this restaurant is actually recommended for all tourists coming to Gomel. The unusual menu, the concept of the restaurant-everything attracts at the stage of preparation for the trip. Although there wasn't much time in Gomel, we were still able to visit the restaurant twice. The first time we went, to be honest, after lunch at another restaurant, but after reviewing the menu, we decided that we could handle the second lunch. Customs gave the go-ahead! What an interesting serving of borscht! And the metropolitan salad is a work of art! Moreover, the daughter ordered it on the second visit, she liked it, although it looked different externally. And when I saw Grandma's firewood on the menu, I was transported back to the "old days", to my childhood. I guess I haven't eaten firewood since.... There are three halls in the restaurant. The first lunch and dinner was held in the company of the heroes of the film "White Sun of the Desert". And the second time, I did not miss the opportunity to have a glass of cranberry tincture with Gleb Zheglov, in the hall with the theme of the film "The meeting place cannot be changed."I tasted the hodgepodge, the taste of which brought back pleasant memories to me.Branded tableware deserves to be celebrated. Serving tea and desserts is a very pleasant addition to a delicious lunch. Chrysanthemum, good wishes... Very nice! And, of course, I can't help but mention the work of the waiters. We were at this place on 05.09. The entourage is interesting, the extensive menu, several halls with different themes. When serving dishes, there are special features - when serving cappuccino, they brought a chrysanthemum in a glass on a tray. But the kitchen itself was disappointing. Pancakes with poppy seed filling are very greasy, with chapped, dry, hard edges. Kvass is not delicious, a milkshake is more like yogurt with cream on top. Fish and chicken are dried, for some reason balsamic vinegar is added to many dishes for decoration, which spoils the taste of the dish.

I didn't like the place itself, sometimes it's retro and cozy, and sometimes it's casual and not catchy. We were with two children aged 4 and 6. The impression was further spoiled by the fact that the waitress took our order, then two more tables. And surprisingly, the two tables where 2 and 6 people were sitting were served 40 minutes earlier than the fries and fries and cheesecakes that we ordered for the children. The woman reacted angrily to the request to speed up the serving of dishes a little. As a result, after 50 minutes, while the children were sitting and suffering, the dishes were brought to us. There is one waitress who has zero harassment, with her workload, one question is how she has the strength to still work there. Empty dishes are cleaned once every 40 minutes, in order to place an order, you need to catch it somewhere in the hall, and the girl is as competent as possible, the more drunk guests broke the dishes, leftovers flew to other guests, she had to clean up. The receptionist was as uncompetent as possible when they brought the melted ice cream, she said that this is how it should be (ice cream is hot, tea is cold - everything is like people's) labor protection, take an interest in this institution. Because it is not good to exploit workers in this way . The service is terrible , due to the fact that one waitress cannot serve 20 tables efficiently . Give in to the prudence of the owners and the administration of the institution , to spoil such a good conception with personal mincing . Respect your staff and reward them well for their hard work.

To all those who were born in the USSR and grew up watching films of golden classics, then you are definitely here, in this atmospheric and cozy cafe "Old Time". Lunch was organized in this cafe for our tour group, by the appointed hour the tables were served and since we were limited in time, the waiter girls served us very quickly. We visited this cafe today, November 26, 2025. The interior is cool. There is nothing else from the advantages. The kitchen is just disgusting. The elementary borscht, which I thought only a careless hostess could spoil, is just terrible. They're magicians, they're fat, and they don't taste good. Herring is in Estonian...It's a beautiful name, but I fell for it...as a result, the usual sliced herring and a small plate of sour cream with it. They also took tinctures and beer. I can't say anything about the advantages here...there are only disadvantages. Beer is not tasty, as if diluted with water, tinctures are just moonshine, which is mixed with different dyes, the taste is almost the same. Well, in the end, a small plus...A washcloth. It was 3 pieces of pancakes with gravy. But this dish was the most delicious of all that was brought to us. And, like the icing on the cake, it's the service. Everything was quick, but with such displeasure, as if she had done us a favor by bringing us the order. I do not recommend using the word at all!!!! The reviews seem to be hyped. The cafe is clearly not worth 5!!!

I was also surprised by the indifferent, dismissive behavior of the hostesses. She smiled tightly, led us to the table so quickly that we lost her in the maze of corridors. When we left, she stood hanging on the bar, looked at us lazily, and did not even say goodbye or ask if we were satisfied with the service. Yes, perhaps these are small things, but the Hostess is the face of the restaurant, her duties include meeting guests, escorting them to a table, and then saying goodbye to them. And the girl obviously couldn't cope with this simple task. Which is somewhat strange, given the popularity of this restaurant in Gomel. Therefore, four stars out of five. There is also a wish for the management of the restaurant to hang TVs in the halls where themed films The White Sun of the Desert would be broadcast, the meeting place cannot be changed, football in the football hall, and in the village-style hall it would be possible to film the Wedding in Malinovka. Because sitting in a room without windows is somewhat boring.
