I was walking through the center of Kutaisi and suddenly stopped - in front of me is the building of the National Opera and Ballet. It was huge, bright, with columns and moldings, as if it had come off an old postcard. Later I read that the theater was built back in 1969, on the site of the old city theater of the 19th century. Georgian and foreign troupes performed here, festivals were held, and the names of Chavchavadze and Paliashvili were heard. Even if you don't go inside, you feel that it is part of the cultural memory of the city. A beautiful, proud place - it is simply impossible to pass by and not stop.

The opera is given approximately once a month. The level is very high, which cannot be said about the public, but this is understandable.
