I travel to Tashkent every few weeks with a female colleague for work. We stayed at this hotel three times in a room with two separate beds. I returned to the hotel yesterday with my sister (looks like me, same last name), also in two separate beds. The owner approached me and said “bro, you’re here with a different girl every time. This place is for family, not for…” and then he mimed having sex in a really crass way. Then the receptionist hit on my female colleague and used the hotel’s business telegram to find her phone number and text and call her. That is really unacceptable behavior. I understand that Uzbek cultural values are more conservative, but he needs to understand that in most of the world it’s not weird at all for a woman and a man to sleep in the same room in separate beds. I will not come back here.
