When I was walking through a quiet park in Borjomi, I suddenly came across a monument to Tchaikovsky. He stands a little to the side of the alley, as if he himself is lost in thought and listens to the sound of the river. The place was chosen precisely — here, in these mountains, he lived in the summer of 1897, rested, was treated with mineral water and worked. It is said that it was in Borjomi that he thought about "Sleeping Beauty" and wrote letters in which he admired the local nature. You stand in front of the bronze Pyotr Ilyich, and it's as if you feel how peaceful he was here. The air smells of pine needles, a chicken murmurs nearby — all the same things that inspired him more than a century ago. It is very touching that his memory is cherished in Georgia. The monument is small, without pathos, but this is its strength. He's like a reminder that a genius is also a person who sometimes just needs peace and mountains.
