It is very tall, probably the tallest and oldest monument to the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812 on the territory of Belarus. We were traveling from Mogilev precisely to visit it.
And it is very correctly located - opposite that very balcony of the Governor's Palace...

The monument is exactly where it should be. It was installed in honor of the 100th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon. The Governor's Palace of the XVIII century is very close by. Napoleon stayed there in the summer of 1812. Closer to the Dvina in 1944, a small cemetery of soldiers-liberators was built. And anyway, this place is probably in the most beautiful part of the city.
