On July 6, 1943, on the second day of the Battle of Kursk, Alexander Horovets was part of the La-5 group that flew out on patrol. Soviet fighters encountered a large group (according to various sources, 20 or up to 50) of German dive bombers. Horowitz broke away from the group and fought alone (presumably due to the failure of the radio station on his plane). During this battle, he shot down nine Ju-87s, including one with a battering ram, and was himself shot down by four German fighters while returning to base.
Alexander Horovets is the only Soviet pilot to have won so many aerial victories in one battle.
The bust of the hero was installed near the building of the Forestry College in Polotsk, where he studied in 1930-1931.

A bust monument to the hero A.K. Horovets is installed near the building of the forestry college, it is made realistically. During the Second World War, he accomplished a feat that is impressive. A memorable place, worth exploring.

We walked next to this monument. I didn't know that this pilot shot down the most planes in the history of the Great Patriotic War in one battle. Now I'll know.
