Built during the Hellenistic period, the city has the steepest theater in the world with a capacity of 10,000 It is known from written sources that the region came under Persian rule, and then as a result of the division of the lands by the successors of Alexander the Great, the castle here passed into the hands of commander Philetairos.  3 BC with the kingdom that Philetairos established here.century and 2.the brightest period of the city, which lasted about 150 years during the century, has begun. Among these kings, called the Attalos Dynasty, especially II. During the reign of Eumenes (MO2.century) Pergamon, with its sculptural school, gave direction to Hellenistic period sculpture with its own unique style. In addition, due to the fact that the city is built on a steep hill, it has also developed its own unique architecture, such as large courtyards surrounded by colonnaded galleries, suitable for the difficult terrain structure, and has set an example to other cities with this architecture.  These courtyards, which are used both in public buildings and residential architecture, are built on wide terraces opened on the surface of the land. Pergamon maintained its importance during the Roman period and reconstruction activities were continued. 1 B.C. It was described as “the most famous and venerable city of Asia Minor” by the writer and philosopher Pilinius Secundus, who lived in the century.
