Victory Square in Minsk: a place of memory and heroic glory. In 1954, a granite obelisk was unveiled in the center of the square in honor of the liberation of the city from the Nazi occupiers. The monument, which was worked on by the largest Belarusian sculptors, was dedicated to the memory of people who gave their lives to save the Belarusian capital. There is a bronze Order of Victory at the top of the obelisk. Eternal memory to the heroes!!!

Short historical background:
In 1954, a majestic monument to the soldiers of the Red Army and partisans who died during World War II was erected in the center of the square – the Victory Monument – an obelisk with a height of about 40 meters lined with gray granite. The four sides of the obelisk pedestal are decorated with bronze high reliefs created by Belarusian sculptors:

The obelisk is crowned with the image of the Order of Victory.
On July 3, 1961, an Eternal Flame was lit at the base of the obelisk.
Currently, Victory Square in Minsk is a place where people come to honor the memory of millions who died during World War II. Many newlywed couples come to the Victory Monument to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame.
Underground, the monument is surrounded by a circular bypass gallery, which turns into a round memorial hall dedicated to the memory of the heroes who died during the war. In the center there is a wreath of art glass illuminated from the inside – a symbol of the Eternal Flame of memory.
The square is surrounded by buildings erected in the 50s of the XX century.
Victory Square is the main entrance to Gorky Park, a popular recreation area.
There are several grocery stores and cafe Berezka on the square, where it is very pleasant to sit after sunset (excellent hookah and delicious sangria with cherries).
