At one time, there were more than two hundred temples in this complex. It is amazing how quickly these ancients could not only erect such monumental structures, but also decorate them with elaborate carvings with the plots of their epics. There is even a beautiful legend that the Shiva temple was built overnight. According to legend, the prince fell in love with a girl named Loro Jonggrang. She did not want to get married and set an almost impossible task - provided that a temple with a thousand statues was built in just one night. And the prince almost fulfilled the condition, but the girl asked the locals to make a lot of bonfires to simulate the dawn. And only 999 statues were installed. In desperation, the prince cursed her and she turned to stone. But then Shiva intervened and the stone statue became a much-respected statue of the goddess Durga installed in his temple and the thousandth in a row. The statue looks a bit polished. And all because the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity believe that if you touch your face and something else, you will have the same charming charm as the goddess. By the way, the locals call this temple Loro Jonggrang, which means slender maiden. The largest temples are dedicated to Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Nearby, there are fewer of them for transport animals - bull, goose and eagle, respectively. In a small distance there are three more Buddhist temples that are part of the Prambanan complex.

A large complex of temples with an amphitheater with an original ballet. Bicycles and electric scooters are available for rent. The temple is beautifully illuminated at night. Who was not, my recommendation.
