One of the most vivid impressions of visiting Georgia. It's the most beautiful cave I've ever seen! It's impossible to describe it even in words - you have to see this kingdom of stalactites and stalagmites, feel and touch the damp cave air, and hear the soft patter of water droplets. We spent almost an hour in this enchanted dungeon. Everything is organized very conveniently: stairs, railings, lighting. A walk along the underground river adds to the experience (to be paid separately), they bring it to the wine museum, and everyone can take a bus for free to the entrance to the cave. You can also just walk out. The streams of people do not intersect. Entrance is strictly based on the time indicated on the ticket. We waited for 40 minutes. They say you can buy a ticket in advance through the website, arrive on time and do not wait (I did not check). Definitely something to see, it's amazing!

Prometheus Cave (also known as Kumistavi Cave, Tskaltuba cave) is a karst cave in western Georgia, in the vicinity of the city of Tskaltubo. A natural monument (category III according to the classification of the International Union for Conservation of Nature).  The cave was discovered on July 15, 1983 by an expedition from the Institute of Geography. Vakhushti Bagrationi. Since 1985, the cave has been converted into an excursion facility. On May 26, 2011, the cave was opened to visitors. The cave is about 11 km long, and visitors can take a 1420m and 380m boat ride out of the cave along the underground course of the Kumi River. The number of steps on the route is 880. The temperature in the cave is 15 degrees. Humidity is under one hundred percent:) the oxygen content is 20.9 percent (as is the norm in the city). Carbon dioxide content 0.06 percent Be careful, the ground is wet and covered with clay in many places, but you are still in a cave :) It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the summer months. The cost is 25 lari for non-residents and 20 lari to leave the cave by boat. As for the tour itself, unfortunately, due to the large volume of tourists, the groups are gaining common ones, that is, in all languages at once - Russian, English, Georgian. It's very difficult to be a guide, since it's difficult to assemble large groups and focus on a story, and the result is just dry mumbling, telling a story for the sake of telling it, and moving on as quickly as possible. To hear something and have time to understand, you need to be right next to the guide, otherwise the tour will turn into just a traffic jam and walking at a penguin pace, like on the subway in prime time. But if no one interferes, the atmosphere will be magical - in each hall there are metal boxes with blue-illuminated buttons that are responsible for turning on/off the backlight and turning on/ off the music - the music in all halls is the same, but fabulous, suitable for the atmosphere. In each hall there are signs with a description of what to look for and a story about why the hall was named that way. The cost of the tour for non-residents is GEL 25 per cave, and 20 for a boat tour leading deeper into the cave. Bottom line: a cave of incredible beauty, my recommendations for visiting. Recommendations and remarks: it is necessary to introduce a limit on the number of visitors per session, no more than 10-20 people, and even with such a large number of people, it will be extremely difficult for the guide. The cave creates a chamber environment, allowing a huge number of people into one session, deprives the motivation of the guide and makes it impossible for visitors to feel this chamber environment of peace. And we need to break down the tours by language, so that the guide in one session talks exclusively in one language - so the tours will be more complete and interesting.

If Vardzia is a story carved in stone by man, then Prometheus Cave is a poem written by nature itself. Forget about cramped mazes. It is a realm of scale, silence and subterranean grandeur. You cross the threshold and you enter another world. The air is thick, cool and humid. The first thing that strikes is the vastness. The halls are so huge that they seem like they could fit a cathedral, and the vaults are lost in the dark, creating their own sky. And so the magic begins. The light turns on. And the stone chaos turns into a phantasmagoria of forms. Stalactites and stalagmites, meeting, give rise to phantastic visions. There is a Cyclops, a fairy, a frozen waterfall, and halls resembling the chambers of an underground king.... Flashes of illumination paint the cave in bright colors, soft classical music is barely audible. Against its background, you can only hear the measured drop of drops counting down the seconds of geological time. Every drop is a builder who has been creating this beauty for thousands of years. The highlight is a boat trip along an underground river. You are floating in complete silence on water as black as night, and stone lace hovers over you, illuminated by a ghostly light. This is a moment of total immersion in the myth. The legend of Prometheus, chained to the Caucasian rocks, seems surprisingly plausible here — such a place is worthy of being a backdrop for a titan. You leave with the feeling that you have been inside the Earth, in its most intimate and beautiful sanctuary. This is not an excursion, but a real journey to the center of your own imagination.

I want to say right away that the cave itself is 5+. What I took the stars for is the organization. In an amicable way, I need to put one star, but I don't want to spoil the rating too much. As it has been mentioned here many times, the guide provides information in 3 languages: Georgian, English and Russian. The groups gather 100+ people, which is why it is not possible to control it - everyone is talking, making noise, taking small children with them, as a result, nothing can be heard from what the instructor says. Accordingly, it annoys her, and she gives a minimum of information. The rest of the time, you literally run through this cave, which stretches for 1.5 km, trying to take photos as you run. If you stop, people start sighing impatiently and rolling their eyes from behind. ! Life hack - go to the very end of the queue, as you will not hear the guide anyway, but you will have the opportunity to look at everything calmly, without hurrying anywhere. The tour costs GEL 25 per person, and for an additional fee of GEL 20 per person, you can take a boat ride through the cave (no more than 5 minutes). Next, you will be met by a bus without air conditioning, which is packed with 30-40 people and takes you to the initial point (the trip takes 2-3 minutes). As a result: an amazing cave and an interesting boating experience, but for this money you want to get quality service in a minimal group and an air-conditioned bus.

The beauty of the opening halls is breathtaking, and the ticket price includes a small tour. The air in the cave is extraordinary, very clean and humid, and the lighting adds to the atmosphere. I highly recommend you to visit.

The cave is 25 million years old, so there are many interesting natural creations that are worth seeing with your own eyes. A guide is included with the ticket to the cave. It takes about 1 hour to walk through the cave with the story. The last session is at 18:00 (before that time you need to buy a ticket)

We got to the cave as part of an excursion, it takes about 3 hours to get from Batumi, but it's worth it. It's a bit cool in the cave, there's a lot of climbing up the stairs, which are slippery (take comfortable shoes). There is a guide who speaks English, Georgian and Russian. It took 45-50 minutes to walk through the cave. We liked it very much.

A must-visit. We were in early November. The group is small, we went around in an hour. The information from the guide is minimal, what is written on the Internet, but they still won't launch without it. We didn't go by boat, it's better to take a ride through the Martville Canyon, more impressions. Whether it's a boat or not, there's only one exit to the wine museum, then everyone is taken for a couple of minutes to the entrance of the food hall. I read the reviews for a long time, I wanted to go on an excursion to the wine museum, but due to the end of the season, they offer only one wine for tasting, with almost no snacks, they refused

A very large cave. It's like a fairy tale in places. I'm impressed! The stalactites are small, larger than stalagmites. We went boating at the end of the cave. Since there are a lot of people, the guide didn't really tell me anything and kept rushing me. Still, you need time to look and not fall on the stairs yet.

Not a single photo will convey the atmosphere of this cave! I thought it was much smaller. If you have a good imagination. Then you can also see different figures made of stalactites and stalagmites!, I recommend you to visit!

A huge cave with many halls, it was comfortable to walk, the lighting was beautiful, and the music sounded good in some places. The tour material in three languages was pronounced by the guide so formally and monotonously that he wanted to move away from her so that she would not interfere with enjoying the state.

It's very authentic, beautiful, there's a similar cave in New Athos, but they still take you inside with a trolley, everything is underfoot here, first there's a ladder of 100 steps, then through the cave, but keep in mind 14 degrees at 99% humidity, you need extra clothes, you walk out in a T-shirt like from a bathhouse...you wait for the bus at the exit and it drives towards the ticket offices..I do not recommend walking, going uphill for more than a kilometer...not everyone hears the guide, there are more than 60 people at the session, the first call is at 11

It's very beautiful, just great! The only thing that scares us is the queues in front of the entrance, but we didn't wait long. The guide spoke three languages: Georgian, English, and Russian, and I would like to thank her very much. We were the only Russian speakers from our tour.

Prometheus Cave is the largest in Georgia. The water broke through many channels in the limestone massifs, which formed a network of caves with numerous passages and halls. The length of the caves reaches 22 km, and there are 17 halls in them. At the same time, a 1.4 km section (6 halls) is available for tourists . Visitors can also take a boat ride along the underground river. Walking takes about an hour, boating takes about 15 minutes. In the cave you can see an underground waterfall and even a lake. Classical music is playing in the halls, the temperature is constantly kept at 14 degrees. Walking through the halls, you can imagine yourself as a hero of some fantastic saga like "The Lord of the Rings" or Robert Salvatore's saga of the dark elves. Go and think that you are somewhere in Khazad-Duma (the mines of Moria) and that dwarves or goblins are about to appear😁 I was impressed, in short, by this cave👌🏽😁

I was on an excursion in this cave. I must say right away, the cave itself is 5 stars. Very beautiful lighting and musical accompaniment at the end of the tour. But the tour and the speed with which you "fly through" the cave is disappointing. The guide speaks 3 languages Georgian, English and finally broken Russian. The information in our language is something like this: "There is a rock in front of you, and a hole in it", at least and primitive. The price is high, so you expect a good tour and a quiet sightseeing, but in reality it's the opposite. There is something to compare it with. I have been to the New Athos Cave several times. PS you can make an audio guide to somehow improve the tour

The place is well-publicized and for good reason. A long cave, about 30-40 minutes of walking with interesting passages with musical accompaniment. There is an opportunity to ride an inflatable boat for a fee. At the time of writing the comment, the entrance fee is 25 GEL. The main thing is to make an appointment in advance, tickets are sorted quickly and there is a chance to wait at the entrance for an extra hour. And summer is the season of tourism. I recommend you to visit.

It's just great. The previous experience of visiting the cave was negative, there was just a hole in the ground. There is also a route of almost 2 kilometers through caves, gorgeous large halls. I also advise you to take a boat trip for a fee, they take you back by boat, along an underground river, again through caves. I really liked it.

The place is magnificent, there have been similar caves, but this one is different in its scale, very large vaults, it's not even a cave, but an underground city. Of course, a significant disadvantage is huge groups of 70-80 people, and a very poor guide's story, but you can go from behind to take a good look at everything, no one is pushing you.

A must-visit! We've been to caves in different countries, and this one is one of the biggest! The tour lasts an hour in Russian and English, and costs GEL 25 per person. Also, after paying an additional GEL 20 at the checkout, take a ride on a large boat through the flooded part of the cave (3-5 minutes). The tracks are well equipped, beautiful lighting and music.

This is really a Cave! It will capture and surprise you with its scale. The first steps are "well, nothing special," and then you get excited. The lighting was very nicely organized and the light show at the end is a pleasant point. Org points - there are 2 types of tickets with a boat tour along the underground river and without a boat, where you walk back 300m outside the cave. Seasoned tourists recommended not to take a ticket with a boat because you will drive half the way in the dark and miss a lot. I don't know if this is true, but I really liked it without a boat. Besides, the ticket is much cheaper. It's cool and very humid inside - keep in mind, take a jacket. There are many ascents and descents of stairs. The pace seemed to me quite high, I would like to look around more stops. You will spend 40 minutes on your feet. Photos do not convey beauty and scale at all.

If you are going on an excursion, I do not advise you to go with a large group, you can not hear anything. It is better to overpay and go with a group of 10 people. Rafting from the cave along the river is impressive, but do not count on a long walk, five minutes and you swim out of the cave. Rafting is not included in the standard ticket price, you must pay extra separately. The tours are repeated every 40 minutes.

Beautiful atmosphere, interesting lighting, large space. I would like the tour to be more informative and reveal more information. 1. How did the cave exploration go? 2. What incidents did the researchers encounter on their way? 3. Add something mythical "to connect with Kalkhida, with the golden Fleece", etc. 4. Using audio guide, cuarcode, and other modern technologies

There is no excursion here! There is a "jogging" escort. The escort makes 4 stops in 50 minutes, repeats memorized phrases in 3 languages. Attention, at each stop you will hear a speech for 1 minute, I quote: "..this looks like an elephant, this joke looks like a man, and this one looks like a woman, let's go to the next gym!" followed by a 10-minute jog. If you've ever been to other places, such as Crimea, don't even think about coming here. Well, unless you're with the kids, and they're interested in everything. The boats sailed for 5 minutes, while we were leaving under our own power, the people on the boats were already moored at the lower stop, some nonsense. I'm attaching a one-shot video from the longest stop.

Of the advantages: 1 beautiful last room in the cave and bought spices after the tour. All It is worth starting with the safety of visitors, neither helmets nor vests were given. You just go the whole tour in a very large group and that's it, there are no fences either. The guide made 4-5 stops for me in 1 hour (that's how long we walked through the cave) (2 minutes). It is not clear what the tour consists of, but 25 GEL has been paid. That is, for this amount you are looking at yourself and in fact I have not received any sensible information. "Staloctite in the form of Georgia" - I remember these words of the guide, but I want something more interesting. I was very upset, again, there is something to compare it with. And at the end there is a minibus that should take you to the initial point, but since there are a lot of people (50 people) and there are few seats, and everyone did not fit in, we drove standing up in order not to waste time and not wait for the next one. It's expensive and I can't tell you anything about the cave, because they didn't give me the information. Well, there was and there was. All. Upset

For 25 GEL per person, you will receive a guided tour with a huge group of an indefinite number, you can not take pictures or look at it, because the trail is narrow and they adjust it from behind, the guide leads the tour in Russian and English, but does not really know either language. Also, now it's August 2024, they are missing a decent part of the route, but for some reason the cost does not change 🤷♀️ When you exit, you are waiting in the heat for a bus that will take you to the beginning of the route, but to get on the bus you need to go through the Afghan war and gladiatorial battles, all this in 30 degree heat. Thank you for your attention, I really don't recommend it. The caves are beautiful, but the organization is disgusting.

I really liked the cave as an object. Large-scale! But the organization of the tour is terrible! Yes, we were in high season, there were a lot of tourists who arrived on their own, as well as buses. They launched, or rather drove, 250 people. And I'm not exaggerating the figure. The guide, with a displeased face and voice, was mumbling something in three languages: Georgian, English and Russian. Moreover, only the name of the hall is in Russian. There is much more information in other languages. There was a feeling of neglect of tourists. Boat rental is not worth the money. The caves themselves are beautiful and interesting, but the steps are very slippery, and there are railings not everywhere on the slopes. There is blurred clay on the steps in places, no shoes will help on it. Therefore, you can screw up a lot and the consequences can be sad. The cave impresses with its size, the extraordinary beauty of the halls, skillfully emphasized by lighting, and a long and conveniently paved pedestrian path. Surprisingly, it is warm inside, always +14 - whereas usually in caves it is slightly above zero. A walk through the cave as part of an organized group with a guide according to the schedule, I had to wait a little for the beginning. The group was small, about 15 people, the guide tells very briefly in English and Russian (possibly in Georgian, depending on the group). At the end of the route, there is a beautiful light and music show in the Prometheus Hall. Unfortunately, it was not possible to take a boat ride on the underground river - something was being repaired on the day of the visit, and the service was not available.
