Karshinsky bridge The Karshinsky Bridge, also known as the Amir Temur Bridge, the Sheibanid Bridge and the brick bridge over Kashkadarya is a brick and stone pedestrian and bicycle historical bridge over the widest and deepest part of the Kashkadarya River, in the north of the city of Karshi, built in 1583. It is one of the oldest and largest existing bridges of its kind in the whole of Central Asia. The bridge is built in a typical Persian style, with elements of Islamic and Central Asian architecture. It is an architectural and historical monument, protected by the state as part of the architectural heritage of the country. During the era of the Russian Empire and the USSR, the bridge for unknown reasons had the unofficial name Nikolaevsky Bridge in honor of Nicholas II— the last emperor of the Russian Empire. The Karshi Bridge has a similar architecture and appearance to the famous Si-o-Se Pol Bridge over the Zayenderud River in the Iranian city of Isfahan.
