The height of the TV tower is 368.5 meters, which makes it the tallest building in the Baltic States and the third tallest in Europe after the Ostankino and Kiev TV towers. The tower was built on the island of Zakussala ("Hare Island") in the middle of the Daugava River (Western Dvina) at an altitude of 7 m above sea level. Externally, the tower is a structure of three "legs" (supports of the main structure) and a spire. Two of the "legs" have high—speed elevators that take 97 meters to a height in 52 seconds, and the third has a backup staircase and cables running from the administrative building to the transmitters.
