The ruins of the Engineering Department building are part of the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. The building left over from the old town is part of the architectural ensemble of the Jesuit Collegium, built in the second half of the 17th - first quarter of the 18th centuries in the Baroque style. In 1836, by order of the emperor, the building was reconstructed and converted into an Engineering Department. In September 1939, the building was damaged by artillery shelling and the storming of the fortress by units of the XIX Guderian Army Corps. In the early days of the defense, the command post of regimental Commissar E. M. Fomin was located in the basements of the building. The remains of a radio station found in 1958 and the remains of a man in a military uniform testify to the defenders' attempts to contact the command. During the fighting, the northern part of the building was razed to the ground, and a two-story-high box remained from the south, which was dismantled after the war.

Ruins of the Engineering Department At the time when the old town still stood here, before the construction of the fortress, there was a Jesuit Collegium in the Baroque style. In 1836, it was reconstructed into an Engineering Department – some of its premises were used as an apartment for the imperial family when they visited the fortress. During the Second World War, the building was destroyed.
