⛪ 1. This beautiful church is right next to Batumi Piazza, in the heart of the city. 2. It was built between 1865 and 1871 by the Greek community of Batumi, led by Mayor Ilya Efremidi. 3. The land was donated by Efremidi, and local Greeks raised money to build it. 4. At first, the Turkish authorities allowed the church only without bells. 5. In 1878, after Batumi joined the Russian Empire, a bell was added. 6. The church became a center of Greek life, with schools and a famous choir. 7. In the Soviet era, it was closed for almost 20 years, then reopened in 1946 thanks to local efforts. 8. It was restored again in 1998–1999, inside and outside. 9. The church holds icons of St. Nicholas, Virgin Mary, and St. George, gifted by Greeks from Chios Island. 10. Today, it belongs to the Georgian Orthodox Church and welcomes everyone. 11. The architecture is simple but elegant, with a peaceful atmosphere inside. 12. A great place to sit, reflect, and feel Batumi’s history and spirit.

Greek church, about 150 years old. The old wall paintings have been preserved inside. Begging children are constantly walking around her, be careful.

The majestic building of the Orthodox Church in the historical center of Batumi, opposite the Piazza square. The current church, Liturgy on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, on Thursday- the Akathist of St.To Nicholas (at 1 p.m.). Morning service at 9 a.m., evening service at 16 p.m. In order to receive Communion at the Liturgy, it is necessary to confess after the previous evening service. The priests are very kind, attentive, in general the atmosphere is friendly between parishioners and visitors, on day 1 I came in jeans, there were also women without hats at the service, no one allowed themselves to comment. To pour holy water, it is better to bring a bottle with you and turn to the altar, fill it in the altar room. Candles can be purchased at the Temple, from 0.3 lari to 1.5 lari. It was pleasant to hear prayers not only in Georgian, but also in Russian during the Liturgy. Only the warmest impressions, thank you!

A wonderful Church dedicated to prayer, we attended the service on October 14, a local Georgian holiday, even a non-working day at the state level. The service is in both Russian and Georgian. Beautiful decoration, stained glass windows. Many believers in the Temple greet the servants, apparently they constantly visit. What attracts attention when visiting the Caucasus, both in Georgia and in our cities of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, is that taxi drivers always slow down near churches and cross themselves. Yes, and the first toast to God in Georgia. The temple was built in the 19th century, in excellent condition. Near the Piazza.

For every believing pilgrim, there is a special place that becomes the subject of his visit. In Batumi, this is the church of St. Nicholas. I didn't have a chance to attend the service, but I went there with a guide. This place is prayed for and blessed. I remember from the tour that the temple was built during the Turkish rule in the XIX century. At that time, Orthodox churches in the territory of Adjara were abolished and destroyed. The Sultan gave permission for the construction of the temple, but ordered that upon its completion the temple remain voiceless. For several years there was no bell on the temple. Currently, in the old part of Batumi, two amazing sounds can be heard every morning: first the call of the muezzin, and then the chiming of the bells of St. Nicholas Church. This creates a unique cacophony.

A wonderful old Orthodox church. The rector, Father Sergius, conducts services in Georgian and Slavic, which is not often found in Georgia.

The Church of St.This is a very interesting historical building, fascinating inside and out, but I really didn't like the fact that tourists come in droves and when the service is not possible to concentrate.

The oldest (1862) Orthodox Church in Batumi, built by the Greeks during the time of the Turks. Russian Russian Church is now called Russian because the liturgy is conducted in Georgian and Russian languages. A salted place. Photo for Easter 2025 (April 20).

A wonderful 19th-century Orthodox church. Some of the prayers are read in Russian. After the bustling part of the coastal city, where the skyscrapers were, it was a salvation to get to the quiet Old Town and stand for service. You belong here, wherever you come from. Christ is Risen, dear ones.

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Batumi is one of the most ancient buildings in the city, it is more than 150 years old. We had a rest in Batumi in May 2025, stayed in a hotel opposite the temple. Magnificent view from the balcony.

There is only one minus, it takes a long time to go if you have settled far away))), in my opinion, the only Temple in Batumi where the service is held simultaneously in both Russian and Georgian

I couldn't help but visit the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, whom I revered. There is a homely atmosphere in the Temple. Many parishioners know each other and greet each other warmly. Radio broadcasting service - I've never been to one before.

For the first time in my life, I was not allowed to go to church with an ordinary city backpack. I'm surprised. Not just to take it off, no, it was suggested to leave it outside against the wall. Well, no one will take it away, right? Thanks to the young man standing at the entrance. The impression of the temple is ruined forever. I have never seen such obscurantism in any church or in any country.

A wonderful temple. The service is conducted with elements in the Church Slavonic language (which is rare for Georgia as a whole), since there are Russian-speaking parishioners.
