It is simply impossible to be in LA and not go to the pier in Santa Monica. This is not just a tourist spot, but a real symbol. For many, I'm familiar with GTA V. And here you can see: the ocean, the sound of waves, the music of street performers and the legendary Ferris wheel — all this creates a cinematic mood, as if you are already in a movie scene.
It is also important that the legendary route 66 ends here. You're literally standing at the End of the Trail sign and you realize: This is not just a geographical point, but the finale of a huge American road that began in Chicago. The atmosphere is appropriate — a little nostalgic, but very lively.
There are cafes, souvenirs, carousels, and mini rides on the pier itself. The place is a tourist destination, yes, but with character. And with a great view of the Pacific Ocean, which is probably the main reason why it's worth coming here at least once.
Santa Monica Pier is a location with history, atmosphere and recognizable energy. If you've been to Los Angeles and you haven't been here, then you haven't been to Los Angeles.
