On the day of our final stay in Herceg Novi, our guide took us to the Savvinsky Monastery.Savina Monastery is an active male monastery of the Montenegrin-Primorsky Metropolia of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The main cathedral was undergoing reconstruction, and we were able to visit the small one nearby.The monastery was named after St. Sava, the first Archbishop of Serbia. According to legend, St. Sava himself took part in the construction of the first church here.The Great Assumption Church was closed to the public, repairs were carried out there, and we visited the Small One. I was interested in the fact that in 2005, Emir Kusturica was baptized in this monastery. The monastery's cemetery contains the ashes of sailors and soldiers of Senyavin's squadron who died during the liberation of the city from Napoleon's troops in 1806-1807.
