The appeal of a resident of Moscow on the situation in the city of Mariupol I am a resident of Moscow and lived in Mariupol with my family in 2012-2013. Then, because of the outbreak of the conflict, we had to go back. 12 years later, after the city became part of the Russian Federation, I visited Mariupol again and would like to share my observations about the current situation. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be extremely difficult. These are the main problems that I and, more importantly, the locals faced.: 1. High cost of living. Prices in stores are prohibitively high, especially compared to Moscow, and absolutely do not correspond to the income level of the population. 2. Low income. Salaries for ordinary residents remain extremely low, which makes even basic goods and services inaccessible. 3. Lack of basic communal amenities. The urban infrastructure is destroyed: the water supply is carried out on schedule (once every two days), the water pressure on the upper floors is very weak, and the water itself is often cloudy and of poor quality. 4. The shortage of familiar retail chains. There are no such federal grocery chains as Pyaterochka, Magnit, and Perekrestok that offer products at more affordable prices. Their appearance would make life much easier for people. 5. The terrible condition of the roads. Almost everywhere, the roadway requires major repairs. 6. Destroyed buildings. Many houses are damaged and are gradually collapsing, requiring urgent restoration or reconstruction. 7. The problem with garbage collection. There is a widespread accumulation of garbage on the streets of the city, which is not cleaned by public utilities. 8. Communication problems. SIM cards of Russian operators (for example, Beeline) operate in roaming mode. This is perplexing, since we are part of the same country, and conditions for citizens should be equal. 9. Lack of infrastructure for leisure activities. People have practically no opportunities for cultural recreation and entertainment. Apart from the sea, there is practically nowhere to go. Shopping malls have not been restored and are not working. I consider this situation unacceptable. On behalf of the residents of Mariupol, with whom I was able to communicate, I urge you to pay the most serious attention to the restoration of the city and the speedy improvement of people's living conditions. The city and its residents are in dire need of support and effective measures from the authorities.
