Monument to Simon Budny is a monument dedicated to the outstanding figure of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania of the Renaissance in the city of Nesvizh. It was installed in 1982, in a public garden, not far from the Church of the Holy Body. In one hand, he holds a book with the sun emblem, a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment. Simon Budny is a prominent humanist, publicist, philosopher, educator, and active participant in the reformation movement. Budny's publishing activities are connected with Nesvizh: here, in the early 1560s, together with Matvey Kavechinsky and Lavrenty Kryshkovsky, he founded a printing house, where in 1562 he published the first book in Belarus, The Catechism. Simon Budny is a very big and iconic figure in the Russian Orthodox Church, a writer, publicist, book publisher, Protestant church leader, and philosopher.
