These guys will celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2025. This Komsomol youth group was the first to be established in Kalinkovichi. It was based on students of grades 9-10 of Secondary school No. 4 in Kalinkovichi. The group was organized and led by 16-year-old Kostya Ermilov. The group consisted of Semyon Shevchenko, Petr Yeremenko, Valentin Tolorai, Ivan Korbal, Mikhail Tkach, Nikolai Zmushko, a total of 16 young people aged 16 to 29 who tried to change the course of the war in a particular area on their own. The feat of "Smugnar" became known in the first post-war years thanks to relatives, eyewitnesses and members of the group who managed to survive. The boys and girls - classmates, neighbors, and acquaintances who had not completed their studies –acted in the fall of 1941 under the slogan "Death to the oppressors of nations!", in short - "Smugnar." They stole weapons and ammunition from the Germans, helped the partisans arm themselves, put up leaflets in the city, hunted policemen, destroyed food supplies of German units, recruited Polish soldiers who fought on the side of the occupiers, set fire to and blew up the railway "Red" Bridge. They did a lot of different things on their own, which, it would seem, could not bring the front line closer or radically undermine the enemy's forces. However, all this made the Germans nervous and tense: NKVD agents were operating in the city, "who parachuted into Kalinkovichi at night." In August 1942, all the Smugglers who did not have time to go to the forest to join the partisans were exposed and put on the operational register at the local SD department. The Germans and especially zealous local policemen did not just shoot the boys and girls. A star was cut out on the back of Valik Tolorai, Senya Shevchenko was hung on the rack, Kostya Ermilov was burned with red-hot ramrods, Vasily Sekach was buried alive. Of course, it's great. that they took a place, decorated a park. They put a stone. But, you must admit, this is clearly not enough for such a significant feat of the Smugglers for our city. But they accomplished no less a feat than the young Guards from Krasnodon. And now we have Oleg Koshevoy Street in our city, but we don't have streets and squares named after Kostya Ermilov, Semyon Shevchenko, Pyotr Yeremenko, Valentin Tolorai, Ivan Korbal, Mikhail Tkach, Nikolai Zmushko, Vasily Sekach, as if they had been forgotten... I believe that it is necessary to RENAME the streets with unimportant names around school No. 4, where they studied or lived by their names, so that new generations of young people know who fought and died for their freedom and life! And a monument on the site of this stone needs to be built worthy of the memory of the heroes of the Smugglers. Or, alternatively, rename Lenin Square to the Square of the Smugglers (as in Krasnodon), restore the Alley of Heroes, and put a monument to the heroes of the Smugglers in the center of the square, as in St. Petersburg or Krasnodon! It will not be a shame to be accepted as a pioneer at such a monument, and to present graduation diplomas on the square, and to do wedding photo shoots!
