Hello everyone. So, my life and work are such that they periodically bring me to the city of Shchuchin. Or somewhere nearby. And you know, if I'm going to be in range, I... I just have to go somewhere. In the cafe "Old Town". Please note that it is located on Freedom Square. Right in front of the city executive committee, across the square. So you understand, right? The epicenter. The absolute center of the city. The zero. And so you think: "Yeah, the city center, opposite the government… Well, now we'll look at the prices, probably like in the center of Minsk or Vitebsk." But it's not! You guessed wrong! This is the main focus. Over the past five years, the price for one set meal has been around three American dollars. Why in dollars? Well, to make it clear to me, to you, and to travelers from other countries, how stable and unrealistic this is. Then you'll think, "Okay, that's the price. Is the quality appropriate?" And you're... partly right. But not in a bad way! Here you will not be offered draniki with machanka or chicken kebab. No. Everything here is austere and Soviet-style: three types of first courses, three types of second courses. And all this can be mixed by ordering from different complexes. Everything is simple. At home. For example, mashed potatoes. I suspect that it is made here by hand, with an old-fashioned masher. Because there are pieces of unpeeled potatoes there. In short, mashed potatoes with lumps! And you know, this is not a disadvantage. It's so cute and homey, which is even a plus. And the compote! Compote is a separate topic here. This is the same compote as in childhood, at school. Clear, delicious, without frills. In short, everything is simple, everything is clear and wildly cheap. At the same time, I personally have no questions about the quality and freshness of the dishes. Especially when you consider who is the neighbor of this establishment across the square. You know who I mean. So if you get to Shchuchin and you want to eat like in a school cafeteria, but in a good way, you're welcome here. I strongly recommend it.

I read the reviews and was skeptical. But everything turned out to be very tasty and polite. Chicken fillet, salads, cheese sticks, dumplings, pancakes - everything is delicious! Yes, some items were not available, but no problem. The food arrived quickly enough. The prices are affordable.

I thought in a small town with few places to "eat" there would be a more sensitive and sincere attitude to what is served. They immediately confronted the fact that there was only a certain set of table dishes (borscht, buckwheat, cutlets, cabbage), but still decided to clarify whether the cook was ready to do something else. I was ready, but I probably shouldn't have been so cocky. A small dish with store-bought French fries, and pork made, apparently separately, sprinkled with rubber champignons from a jar and sweet carrots (which is not the topic here at all), heated in the microwave. No taste, no soulfulness. The price tag is comparable to Minsk Cornflowers. Only there are really high-quality, tasty and good-quality portions. Perhaps, when visiting Shchuchin, it is worth trying to visit some other place.
