You can't reach the Statue of Liberty directly by bus, but you can take buses to Battery Park, where the Statue Cruises ferry terminal is located. Try to visit before sunset for getting iconic background for your picture

another statue of Liberty in Paris. I couldn't be in Paris and not look at the Statue of Liberty, and on the last day of my stay I walked to the famous Swan Island in the movie "Looking for a Woman", on which it is located. The monument did not make a special impression, but the evening was not spent in vain, thanks to a walk to it.

It's dirty, unpleasant, around the homeless tent. You can go down to the statue itself from the middle of the bridge over the Seine, but you will not want to do this, because there is garbage under your feet, and in the immediate vicinity is a gathering place for marginals.
