The current cathedral was built at the end of the 19th century to promote Orthodoxy. Then came the Soviet era in the 30s of the last century, a hundred-ton copper bell was dropped from the bell tower and sent for melting along with the cathedral crosses. And in the sixties, the building was converted into a swimming pool. This is the heavy share that this temple has received. The cathedral is now operational again.
