It's a terribly dirty place, although in theory it's the center of the old town and the administrative district with the most expensive hotels and museums. Apparently, after the political upheaval, the infrastructure fell into disrepair, and some of the functions of the government were moved to a new purpose-built city far from here. In fact, apart from the museum, the good cafe La Poire (online, consistently delicious and pleasant everywhere) and several hotels nearby, there is nothing particularly interesting. At the same time, even the hotels look tired, everything is covered in dust. Traffic is chaotic, almost no one follows the rules, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights are often ignored. There are also vice cops who can make comments, for example, for public displays of affection like kissing. There is also morality police present, which can intervene over public displays of affection such as kissing.

A good place to relax while hiking in Cairo, but quite noisy both day and night, you can feel the rhythm of the big city

A wonderful place for an individual traveler to stop! I spent a whole week meeting a bunch of friends. No insects. It can be noisy at night.
