It was founded in 1897 as a concert hall. In 1912, the theater officially received the name Théâtre des Mathurins. In 1922-1923, architect Charles Siclis reconstructed the theater, adding an Art Deco facade that contrasts with traditional Parisian apartments. This design has received the status of a partial historical monument.
