The view from above, from the road, is very romantic. On the road in that area there are many observation decks equipped with tables and benches, many in the shade. And it is very convenient to relax and look down at Fethiye. Locals like to relax there. The amphitheater itself is almost the whole "new model", but in a historical place. It's beautiful from above, it's worth a look. The port is visible. In general, Fethiye liked it very much.

Telmes Amphitheater (II–IV century AD) in Fethiye. In the ancient world, the modern city of Fethiye was known as Telmessos (Telmes) and was an important city of Lycia. Historians claim that the city appeared in the 5th century BC. Lycia is an ancient country with a distinctive culture, which was successively conquered by the Persians, Alexander the Great, the Romans and the Turks. It maintained its autonomy for a long time, becoming part of the ancient empires. It is thanks to such a rich history that a large number of monuments and attractions are encountered, such as the ruins of an amphitheater (and this structure is found in many ancient cities).
The amphitheater was used for a variety of mass spectacles: gladiatorial fights, animal baiting, etc. Amphitheaters differed in size and capacity of spectators, for example, in Telmes it is up to 6,000 people, and the most famous Colosseum in the world is up to 50,000 people.
It turned out that at the time of my visit, the amphitheater is under reconstruction, however, this does not particularly prevent us from looking at it from above and capturing it. And it does not even prevent the little turtle from moving around the territory of the ancient structure for the sake of its "turtle" affairs.

Under repair, apparently long-term. Historical stones and elements of the theater are lying on the ground, obviously they were not particularly worried about them. It is better to look from above from the side of private houses. Almost certainly you will be met by a local alcoholic guide who will tell you the obvious things in broken English and in the end will demand $ 100 ... send him away and go for a walk further)

It's not as impressive as in Pamukal, but it's still interesting. It can be combined with Lycian tombs
