A landmark place in Chisinau The Victory Arch is a triumphal arch. It was built in 1846 under the direction of architect I. Zaushkevich to accommodate a bell weighing 6.4 tons, cast from captured Turkish cannons. The arch was erected in honor of the victory in the Russian-Turkish War (1828-1829). It was restored in 1973.
