It is believed that the church was built by a resident of one of the villages of the district. He was seriously ill, but somehow in a dream the Virgin appeared to him with a Baby in her arms and healed him. In gratitude, the believer built a chapel and, not being an iconographer, painted an icon that is kept in Blonie to this day. In 1812, the temple burned down, but the image survived and never left the newly rebuilt church.
