Toprak-Kala evokes mixed feelings... On the one hand, it is a very important historical place. The capital of ancient Khorezm was located here in the 3rd century AD. The city was big and respected, and therefore here we can once again recall the great "Sic transit gloria mundi" - "This is how worldly glory passes.".. The settlement is nominated to the UNESCO World Heritage List (but is not), and in this regard, it is unclear how Toprak-Kala can be there if not only restoration work is being carried out on the territory of the monument, but the city is actually being rebuilt... Yes, the bricks are made using the same technology as many centuries ago, but they even differ in appearance (of course, how much time has passed). That's why a new model is being created... on the other hand, this new model will stand for 20 years - who will remember that these are new buildings. As with the "antique" buildings in any big city. Perhaps counting on it. Again, in the Eastern tradition, it is not so important what stands in place, the place itself is important - so, you can rebuild not only palaces, fortresses and just houses, but also temples (as was done in Japan, for example). These new buildings are a little upset. And the old walls, the remains of old buildings, of course. very impressive. Therefore, it is a twofold feeling. I probably wouldn't have come here a second time. But I think it would be interesting to go once, for comparison with other fortresses.
