The Belarusian Orthodox Church considers the date 992 to be fundamental. It was at this time that the first diocese of Polotsk was established. On July 28, believers honor the memory of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, the baptist of Russia. It was he who founded the city of Zaslavl.
And according to historians, it was here that the first monastic tradition originated. The first nun was Rogneda, who took monastic vows and the name Anastasia. And Prince Izyaslav went down in history as the continuer of his father's work and the fortifier of Orthodox traditions in the Belarusian lands.
