Ulriksdal is a large palace and park complex in the suburb of Solna. Ulriksdal Palace belongs to the royal residences. Royal palaces belong to the state, but can be allocated for use by the royal family if necessary (for example, if someone marries or gets married). The rest of the time, the palace is usually used as a museum. Ulriksdal is a more modest palace than Drottningholm, which is usually visited by tourists. Now the palace operates as a museum in the summer. (Unfortunately, it is forbidden to take photos inside.) The palace and the park were founded in the 17th century by the famous commander Jacob Delagardi. Queen Christina loved to visit the Delagardi Estate (Jacobsdal). In 1669, after Delagardi's death, the castle was bought for Charles XI's son Prince Ulric and received his name, but Ulric lived only one year. Kings Gustav III (in the 18th century), Charles XV (in the 19th century), Gustav VI Adolf (in the 20th century, first as Crown Prince, then as king), and various dowager queens lived in the palace. The museum exhibits mostly 1920s interiors. The palace complex includes: the main palace building; the greenhouse, which exhibits both plants and marble sculptures; the palace chapel (the place of prestigious weddings); the pavilion of Queen Christina's coronation carriage; the Confidencen theater, founded in 1753 by King Adolf Fredrik; the palace kitchen, which now houses a cafe and where you can refresh yourself, as well as a number of other, smaller objects. I will tell you about the palace park in the card dedicated to the park.
