The Afyon Grand Mosque (Afyonkarahisar Ulu Camii) is the most important of the many mosques in the city. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is an example of the Anatolian wooden architecture of mosques of the Seljuk period (built in 1272). Elaborate wooden carvings, silence and tranquility welcome parishioners and guests here. With the permission of a local resident, we went inside, of course not during prayer and observing the traditions (not in shorts, without shoes, women with their heads covered).
