Level 30 Local Expert

The community of Värmland (Värmlands nation). It is one of the 13 student associations of Uppsala University. It was founded no later than 1660. The current site for the fraternity building was acquired in 1874, but construction was postponed several times. It was completed only in 1930 by Architect Ragnar Estberg (the author of the Stockholm City Hall). The location of the building is very prestigious, next to Uppsala Cathedral. The building has rich interiors and a large library. There is a choir at the fraternity, a newspaper is published, and there are two residential complexes for students. There is a sculpture "Lynx" in the courtyard. Honorary members of the fraternity were King Gustav V, Prince Carl Philip (the youngest son of King Charles IX), writer Selma Lagerlof, and Prime Minister Tage Erlander.
