Valide-i Cedid Mosque is one of the important works of Ottoman architecture, located in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul, in a central location by the sea. It is also known by the name of "New Valide Mosque". Basic Features: * Banisi (Made): II. Mustafa and III. It was built by Emetullah Rabia Gülnuş Sultan, the mother of Ahmed. (This indicates that the mosque is the work of a "Valide Sultan", that is, the admiration of the mother sultan.) * Date of Construction: It was built between 1708-1711 Dec. * Architect: It is accepted that it is Kayseri Mehmed Ağa. • Location: It is located in a central area, very close to Üsküdar Square. * Architectural Style: It is considered one of the last examples of classical Ottoman architecture. It has a square planned main place of worship and a flattened shaped main dome. The dome sits on an octagonal pedestal formed by four large arches and four half-domes. * Minarets: There are two minarets with two honorifics. * Külliye: The mosque is designed not only as a place of worship, but also as a large complex of buildings containing structures such as a mausoleum (Emetullah Rabia Gülnuş Sultan Mausoleum), a fountain, a soup kitchen, a Siberian school (elementary school) and his majesty's pavilion around it. * Featured Details: * The mosque and its courtyard with portico are built higher than the ground against the risk of flooding from sea level. * There are elegant bird houses (bird palaces) in the complex, which reflect the subtle thinking of the Ottoman Empire and are placed on the exterior. * The calligraphy in the interior belongs to Hezarfen Mehmet Efendi. Valide-i Cedid Mosque is a magnificent and historically valuable building that makes an important contribution to the skyline of Üsküdar Square.
