I was in Palermo in October 2018. I stayed at the Vittoria Palermo Hotel for 12 days. This is a small family hotel, the owner is an imposing elderly man, he sat at the reception and did the cleaning together with his wife in the rooms. The living conditions are normal, everything is clean, bed linen and towels were changed frequently. The owner does not speak English, I spoke to him in Italian, he asked me to come to the hotel no later than 23.00, because he does not give the keys to the outer door, but opens the door himself. The hotel is located in a noisy location next to the main railway station. I specially chose this hotel, because I rode the train and bus to other cities on the island, it was convenient for me to return in the evening after the trip. Via Maqueda street strangely turns from a dirty little one near the hotel into a central one with many attractions. So if you walk straight along it and don't turn anywhere, you can see the Fountain of Shame, the Massimo Theater, the Four Corners Square, etc. Everything is nearby. There are a lot of cafes, pastry shops and on a parallel street from the hotel there is a huge supermarket "Spar", I often bought cheeses and yogurt there. A huge selection of cheeses, before leaving home I bought half a glass of different types)). I liked the hotel, it's certainly not a Hilton, if many expect 5 stars, it's not. Solid 3, and no hair dryer. Although when I booked, it was indicated what was in the room. I took my travel hair dryer with me just in case. If I go to Palermo again, I will stay at this hotel, the location in the city is well worth it, and the accommodation was not very expensive. I hope that the situation with Covid will end soon and the borders will be opened 😊😊😊
