The sculptor is Vladimir Ivanovich Panteleev. The monument, in the form of a wolf lying on a stone pedestal, was installed in 2005 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the city of Volkovysk. The image of the wolf is not accidental - there are several legends where the name of the city came from: - they dragged goods on the way from the Varangians to the Greeks. - in the local forests there lived robbers of Portage and Carvings, they had their own cave, where they took the loot. - a romantic story about Marina, the Prince and the Volkolaks.
