During the trip, the battery in my iPhone 13 swelled up. You can't leave on the same day, but you can't take such a phone on a plane. We came here and the young man very politely told us about the problem and what could be done. The battery was replaced in an hour. Everything is working, the phone is alive again. When the phone was taken away, the young man showed the old battery, told which new one he replaced and told the characteristics. This will be a long review about a story that happened sometime in January-February 2025. My Pixel 5a5g suddenly failed. The screen was intact, but there was no image. Attempts to fix the phone on their own did not lead to anything. Apparently, the problem was the cracked soldering of the processor. As it turned out later, this is a common disease in the pixels of this series. The thermal interface is very poorly designed. During operation, the processor is constantly in severe temperature fluctuations. Such cyclic thermal effects have a bad effect on soldering, especially on BGA housings. Soldering off the processor, reballing it and putting it back in place is a very, very difficult task, especially for BGA cases with a 0.5mm contour pitch! But everything is also complicated by the fact that there is no chance of an error - you cannot change the processor., because it stores the data key on NAND in conjunction with the Titan M security chip. And first of all, I needed to save the data! I didn't have the right tools for this task, nor did I have enough experience. Still, a BGA with a 0.5mm pitch is an extremely difficult task even for an experienced repairman. I started looking for someone to contact in Yerevan with this repair. According to reviews, I found this place - XFix on Severny Prospekt. I'll be honest. I did not believe that they would be able to cope with this task. But there was no way I could lose data on my phone. And I decided on the next trick - I bought with list.am exactly the same SERVICEABLE phone to test their repair skills in practice. I explained everything to them in advance that I didn't believe they could do it and I needed reinforced concrete evidence. Fortunately, the guys understood me correctly and took up this job. A few days later, I arrived and saw that they had managed to solder the processor from a working phone, reball it and put it back in place so that everything worked as before. I asked not to assemble the phone completely so that I could have access to the motherboard. I needed to check with my own eyes that the processor had actually been removed and put back in place. And yes! It turned out to be true! The body of the microcircuit was carefully cleaned of the compound and soldered. Plus, they showed me a photo of the dismantling process. I paid for this work in full and was sure that they could do such repairs, not in words, but in deeds. I immediately gave them my native phone, which originally had to be saved. And... they fixed it! Yes, I paid for a double repair + urgency (I needed it all very urgently, because the work was standing). And you know, it was worth it! As a result, I have two working phones in my hands + saved data in one of them. I am very glad that there are such masters in Yerevan! Since then, I've been sending everyone I know to fix their phones and other equipment. I hope I have described the complexity of this repair in sufficient detail so that the readers of the review will have no doubts about the skill of the guys from XFix! P.S. I contacted this workshop with the problem of charging my laptop – it stopped charging both through the power supply and via USB-C (apparently my adapter did not have enough power for a gaming laptop). Resetting the controller didn't help, so I decided to check the problem with specialists. The wizard promptly performed diagnostics, tested the device on the control power supply and the unit from the MacBook, through which charging went. I also checked my cable and found out that the problem was with the plug adapter (the cable was with an American plug). In the end, everything was solved by replacing the cable, which turned out to be the simplest and most inexpensive option.
