I highly recommend visiting this particular location, and always with a guide. You will learn a lot of new, interesting and controversial things with official information. It was here that Major Gavrilov (the same officer and fighter who organized the defense of the fortress for a whole month) was captured, and it was here that the Nazis saluted him for his courage and bravery by removing helmets and caps in front of the prisoner.

The "Western Redoubt" was the completion of our study of the Brest fortress. Although the building is in an abandoned state, it immerses in the atmosphere of the war years. Both the primary brickwork of the 19th century and traces of future alterations are visible, which makes it possible to realize the horrors of that time. The atmosphere here is incredible, intertwining human destinies, courage and self-sacrifice. The engineering idea of this structure impresses with its thoughtfulness and monumentality, which makes it a truly magnificent monument. It is a pity that some people use it to train their artistic abilities, which spoils the historical atmosphere.
