What should I do if my location is detected inaccurately?

Check your device's location detection settings (or settings for geolocation or GPS)

If location detection is disabled, enable it. Launching a GPS module or location detection after an idle period can take from 10-15 minutes to several hours. During this time, it's best to keep your phone outside rather than in a garage or apartment.

We recommend to keep location detection always on. This will significantly reduce the time needed to find satellites when launching apps that use this setting.

If you prefer, you can block certain apps from using this feature in your OS settings.

Enable precise location mode

Enable location detection based on data from satellites, cellular networks, and Wi-Fi.

All other location detection modes (like those that use only satellites or Wi-Fi) do not detect your precise location and are not suitable for use by apps.

Turn on mobile data

Turn on mobile data, and make sure that you have a positive account balance and access to mobile data (for example, check it by loading any website in your mobile browser). When mobile data is off, the app can't:
— Download up-to-date data about GPS satellite orbits.
— Reroute when a better route option appears.
— Get information on recent road events.
— Show the updated map of an area.
— Find routes to avoid traffic jams.
— Search for a stop along the way.

Turn off power saving mode

In most cases, when you use a power saving mode, location detection is turned off.

Ensure that the GPS signal is available

Keep your phone on the car dashboard, under the windshield. Any obstacle (a car roof, dense foliage, highrise apartment buildings) reduces the quality of the GPS signal, and can block it completely. Your phone requires the open sky above it.

If you enter а tunnel, the GPS signal disappears, but the Yango Maps app continues to follow the route, although with lower precision of location detection.

If the settings above don't help, try one of the following:
A. Close Yango Maps. It's not enough to minimize the app by tapping the Back or Home button. Instead, you should open the list of all running apps and swipe the Yango Maps app. Open the Yango Maps app again.
B. Turn off Wi-Fi. Open the Yango Maps app.
C. Turn on Airplane mode for 15–20 seconds, then turn it off. Open the Yango Maps app.

If these steps don't help either, contact support.
